Greg Garmon Update
Some people have been wondering with Butch Davis' dismissal today how it affects the recruiting of 4* RB Greg Garmon.
Greg had listed a top 3 of Iowa, Illinois, and North Carolina, with UNC in the lead, but Greg told me today things are definitely changing with Butch out as Head Coach.
What does that mean for Michigan? He's not sure. Greg isn't very high on Michigan, and the coaches don't seem to have him high on their board either.
With Ohio RB Brionte Dunn visiting the BBQ, and Muskegeon RB Juwan Lewis likely to jump on an offer, I don't think it's a major concern, but just letting you all know.
Juwan Lewis is likely to jump on an offer, but is that an offer that is likely to come? With Houma already on board, I was under the assumption that RB is pretty much Dunn or none, with the possibility of Marshall or Garmon if they show interest
The coaches were pleased with Lewis and his performance at camp. They want to see how he does during his senior season to offer.
Lewis plays fullback in Muskegeon's Pistol offense, so it's different to judge him in person than a normal running back.
Where is Muskegeon?

That was pretty shameful of me.. I used to play the Big Red in High school too. I'm from Grand Rapids, originally.
Al Capones favorite HS Football team.
I was under that impression as well. I would rather fill out spots with DT and WR, then if have room take a RB.
However, this becomes a bit more evident in the fall once we see what we have on the team. I think Hopkins could be a break out guy, I think Fitz can have an impact when healthy, I think Rawls was spawned with DNA from Bo Jackson, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. If nobody steps up, then this changes things. Ronnie Hillman is only listed at 5'10", 175, so a smaller back can work in the offense.
Maybe we are Dunn recruiting RBs.
My impression is that Dunn is down to either M or ohio. I can't see him going to ohio with the shitstorm there going for at least another 6 months, and with his cousin already committed here after decommiting from ohio. In that respect, he's probably our last back, and I have no qualms about not recruiting Garmon harder.
I guess I"ve been living under a rock but when did Dunn's cousin commit to Michigan? I'm assuming your talking about Dymonte Thomas?
Huh? Did I miss a commit. Who comitted here after decommiting from Ohio.
Thanks. I guess he had the pronoun misplaced. I wasn't sure if he was referring to Dunn, Or Dymonte or somone else.
Either way, Dymonte hasn't committed to UM (yet) and was never committed to OSU. The entire post is inaccurate, so there is no reason trying to figure out what he is talking about.
but now I absolutely trust the decisions made by this coaching staff. If they think one guy is a better fit than another, I will trust them. Let's hope it relates to on-field performance.
This recruit has all the measurables one could want out of a RB. When I watch his film he looks like a track guy who plays RB. He runs straight up and down but is really fast. I still like his potential over Lewis but lets face it, we all prefer Dunn.
It's an absolute mystery to me how this kid could favor schools like UNC, Iowa, and Illinois over Michigan given that we have immediate playing time available and a pro-style offense that is looking for a feature back...
Have you seen how bad we have been lately?
Those are no doubt the schools recruiting him the hardest. Illinois hasn't exactly set the world on fire David.
The Illinois O went nuts one Saturday last year...laid sixty-something on a conference foe..feature back had 3 rushing TDs and 2 receiving TDs...that's a bit of 'world on fire'!
By that logic, we should have WRs lining up at our door, eager to become the next Roundtree.
Thank God he's with the Lions now.
You're right, focus your attention to the 3 year experiment that just ended miserably and ignore that Michigan is the ALL TIME winningest program, they are going back to their strengths, play in the best venue in all of college football, have a Top 10 potentially Top 5 recruiting class after all is said and DUNN and potentially have the consensus #1 overall rated player in the class of 2013 committed.
"and potentially have the consensus #1 overall rated player in the class of 2013 committed."
This is getting a little ahead of yourself. Morris, while he sounds like a great player, may not even be the top QB in next years class, yet alone top player. Let the guy play his junior year and lets see where he stands before anointing him the Tom Brady of the recruiting world.
actually our strength right now is spread n shred.
so we are kind of moving away from our strength
We're all Michigan fans, so we will never understand how or why someone else doesn't like Michigan.
It doesn't matter, because Dunn isn't going to tsun.
You misspelled "tsio".
If I was a pretty good recruit and a school wasn't showing much interest in me as a potential signee than I probably wouldn't be super high on that particular school either. Especially if he knows that the coaching staff is going after other players that play the same position harder. I don't really blame this kid for not being super high on Michigan or having Michigan in his top 3. Plus, look at it this way. It's not always about the glamour (Les Miles/Garmon) when you have people that love Michigan (Hoke/Lewis). Maybe not the best analogy but this is the kind of thing that should be mutual. We'll see what happens!
lol i said it a few times last year, the most unfair thing was that Denard was'nt able to play against Michigans defense last year. So who cares if illinois scored alot of points against Michigan last year..... honestly who did'nt... wait ... That's right Big East champion Uconn
