trouble looming for USC?
Here is a recent column by a writer for the Seattle Times. It's not exactly unbiased, but it's still interesting, I think:

I wish there were more facts reported in stories predicting the demise of USC. I am no USC fan. I traveled with the Michigan team to two Rose Bowls and nearly every Big Ten venue. Their fans were the rudest group I had seen, and this is the basis of my disdain for USC. Even Notre Dame and OSU were more hospitable. However, right now this investigation has released little, and reporting is mostly editorial.
ND fans are the opposite of assholes. That is, the ND fans who actually went to ND. But other than Northwestern fans, ND fans who went to the school there are so damn lame that they will never reciprocate any type of trash talk, which can be fun.
Obviously tOSU fans are of another breed, much akin to state fans. But I truly believe that each and every Michigan fan must go to Columbus at least once to truly experience the rivalry. I always disliked tOSU but it wasn't until I went down to Columbus that my hatred for their school and fanbase really became significant. try it sometime.
I'm not sure it's even fair to MSU fans to compare them to OSU fans (at least, the ones in Columbus). I would not have a problem going to East Lansing while wearing a U-M shirt, but I seriously would think twice of doing so in Columbus.
in East Lansing when I was there around Feburary. I had no problems. Besides, every time a State fan made a comment about football, I always told them to call me back in 2016 when they get their next "once every 5 years upset."
P.S. just in case DocWorm gets his panties hunched up, I don't think last year was an upset.

RABLE!
I ran a marathon in Columbus, and while there I went to dinner at "Zuppa" with my marathon group, wearing my Michigan shirt. Most people just gave me disdainful looks, but at dinner there, I had an interesting experience.
My order didn't come out with the others, and the waitress got down close and told me that she'd put it back in like it was from another table, because she was pretty sure she'd seen some of the kitchen staff spitting in it.
So, at least she was nice.
I'm going to need to respectfully disagree with this. I am by no means an SC fan, but I have a handful of friends out here who are alumni. First of all, they are all very respectful of me as an M fan and cheer for Michigan with me when they play. And when I've gone to SC games with them (only about 5 or 6, but a decent sample) the fans suck, but not because they're dickheads like OSU fans, they're just more worried about what celeb might be there or what everyone is wearing.
