Rodriguez Announces Departure (Grady?)
I really like this statement by RR (from same Freep article):
"Guys that maybe are not doing all of their responsibilities and the things they're supposed to do to be part of our football program may not be back"
This is a manager, a leader at work. If they don't buy in, give 'em the boot! Don't let these guys just hang out, bide their time, and perhaps hold the program back. It's a selection, culling, winnowing, weeding out process that will allow for and perhaps incite growth in the right direction.
Wermers, I think.
(Just rumor/speculation)
Yeah, it's Wermers.
This was indicated on the front page of GoBlueWoverine, Scout's UM site(I know that is anathema around here), yesterday.
This makes a lot of sense for Kurt as he was a holdover from the Carr recruiting class of 2008 and was likely going to be buried deep on the depth chart behind guys like Schilling (Jr), R. Barnum (RS Fr), Q. Washington (True Fr) and, hopefully, Torrian Wilson (2010).
Then again, who thought Mark Huyge was probably going to be our starting RT in 2009?
Do we think maybe Rich Rod's WR recruiting will make a little more sense after he talks to a few more people? All of a sudden there is probably going to be more scholarships available than we previous thought.
Grady was a senior so that scholarship would not have counted next year anyways.
I'm talking about the comment by Rich that said others could be leaving after he talks to them.
That surely could open up some other scholarships for the 2010 class. We'll just have to wait and see who is getting booted.
Gotta get with the program or,
ya gotta get out of the PROGRAM
Go Blue
Wermers is gone!
He's a repeat offender. Those type of guys should never play for Michigan.
As far as the other attrition, it's a matter of getting your guys in place for your system. We saw the same attrition with Beilein and it worked out fine.
I hate making blank statements about guys when there's probably another side to the story. It sounds pretty cut-and-dried that he messed up, but as a football coach, I think Rodriguez needs to do what's best for the team and for Grady. If it's going to set a bad example for Grady to return, then he shouldn't; if Rodriguez sees an opportunity for Grady to learn and become a better person through this, then maybe he should stay.
Without knowing Grady and the situation, I find it hard to pick a side.
the situation is that Grady did not comply with the requirements of his probation at all. He should be booted. I wonder if the coaching staff has to share some blame here. Is it there job to make sure that Grady got his act together?
I don't think that you can baby-sit young men.
If he was on some type of team probation then he knew to keep in line.
I mean, I coach high school ball and any time a kid gets a second chance then he already knows he is on thin ice.
With the money that a school like UM has invested in this kid the football staff and the school should expect them to do what is asked of them.
...of the coaching staff's responsibility to make sure Grady complies with probation requirements as it is the MGoBoard's responsibility to teach you the difference between "there" and "their." That is, none, but we can criticize regardless.
Great day pal.
Is that a big deal to you?
I have a feeling, that if you are the kind of person who worries about use of the english language on a message board, face-to-face I'd probably be doing the teaching.
Internet tough guy?
Yeah.
What is he?
Internet english-cop?
Do you guys put up with a smart-ass like that on a sports message board?
I play college ball and have coached varsity hoops for 15 years. I'm on most board around the country.
My experience is most of the people who wanna correct someone's use of the english language are nerdy little twerps.
Why would anyone be so anal as to try to correct someone's spelling?
Do you think that was out of line?
Next time you talk to Rich or Tony Gibson ask them if I'm a tough guy.
Internet tough guy? Check. And lame.
Super important internet tough guy, or just a self-important ass? I'm leaning towards the latter.
And between you and nerdy little twerps that nitpick your spelling and grammar, right now I'm also leaning towards the latter.
...yep, a man gets on a sports board and corrects another man's english/spelling...yep, pretty sure I know which way YOU lean, lol.
Later-gal....
Wanna hook up later? We can talk about how the grammer is fer the gheys, amirite? LULZ!
You're absolutely not funny and quite annoying. Please shut up unless you're posting about UM. thanks.
Should I just call him an asshole and move on?
That fella must know you pretty well.
Is he another person who you try to tell how to write?
Ya know, I only knew two male english teachers who were so 'fond' of the use of proper english.
One of the male english teachers was a queer.
And the other one was glad the other one was a queer.
So if a guy cares about being able to speak properly, he must enjoy the company of other men?
I think I've figured out who "vanhoopcoach" is... here's a picture:

It's kind of lame to say something on the internet that you wouldn't say to someone's face. I'm guessing you wouldn't call that guy a queer if you ran into him on the street.
The grammar nazi-bashing nazis are getting really annoying!
Consistent bad grammar, misspellings, and simple lack of regard for the english language on a message board are analogous to spitting while talking, having food between your teeth, or staring at a woman's breasts when having a face-to-face conversation. Each one is too distracting to make the conversation worth it for the other person.
If you care as much as you do in face to face conversation as you seem to in message board conversation, then you would indeed be the teacher - teaching people to avoid you.
with your football team!
If they are as nerdy as a couple of you girls it's no wonder OSU hammers them!
Keep crying.
Where'd you play?
I see. Tuba player.
The problem is all yours - you are wasting your time. The minuscule effort you put into communicating results in others not knowing what you are trying to say. Thus, I have no idea what "I'm on most board around the country" means. Also, "I play college ball and have coached varsity hoops for 15 years" does not make sense - you play college ball and have coached varsity hoops for 15 years? That means you were coaching high school (I assume) varsity when you were in what, kindergarten?
And I think we should leave the virtual world and go somewhere and fight. After school at 3pm in the parking lot?
Grow up.
he's obviously a bitter, washed up ex-athlete turned gym teacher. He probably goes to the local YMCA and brags about that one time he caught a pass in 9th grade. Maybe he is like my gym teacher from high school and he was fired for taking too many sick days.
Yeah, I coach.
Played ball.
Not play ball....played ball.
I can't wait to tell Gibby about you sissy.
Guys, I honestly am sorry about being sloppy but DAMN!
I write and move along to the next post.
This is the only sports board in America that gives a DAMN about piddly shit like you girls do.
Please keep posting.
....cps...you quit bashing my spelling and I'll quit sending out those pictures of you and the blue nightie.
...vanhoopcoach...try some reading comprehension. I haven't made a single comment about your spelling. Only that you're an ass. Aside from providing some minor entertainment for the evening, you're relatively insignificant.
And admit it. I look damn good in that blue nightie. Don't forget the maize panties, either.
...looked FINE!!!!
I kept a few pictures for, uh, hard times, lol.
Minor?
Minor?
Awww, give it up I have been abunch of entertainment tonight!
only...smarter...by just a little bit
Actually I think he's related to coachBT of NO SUGARCOAT fame.
lulz, he called you gay! He got you.
...spitting while talking, having food between your teeth, or staring at a woman's breasts when having a face-to-face conversation.
I think I do that last one, but I do at least refrain from drooling (for the most part).
You think you can beat me up because I know how to spell. That's awesome deductive reasoning.
Will this hurt our APR?
That's some awesome drunken (I assume) belligerence from vanpoopcoach there .
You know, shouting instructions to your players during a high school b-ball game = grammar and spelling less important (though you are WORKING FOR A FUCKING SCHOOL!)
Communicating with others in English using a text-based medium = more important.
It's also pretty ironic that jg2112 seemed to be agreeing with vanpoopcoach in the first place.
But what do I know, his Internet Penis is much larger than my Internet Penis.
I'm really only a weekday Mgoblogger. That said, my 2 cents:
I love you vanhoopcoach. You make me feel like much less of a tool.
Spelling and grammar are for the gays. And the straights. Anyone who wants to communicate, actually.
CPS - you forgot a major rule of internet posting: you need to have played the sport on which you're commenting at the college level, and you need to tell all of us that you know M's coaching staff. Otherwise, STFU.
I can't deny that I never played college football or that I don't know any of the staff. Man, I'm a loser. In fact, I didn't do a whole lot during college, and I don't really know anybody.
What little I did do included watching football, reading about football and talking about football. So I guess I'm qualified to comment on watching football, comment on things I read about football and comment on what people say about football. In which case, I'm qualified to comment on vanhoopcoach watching football, comment on what he writes about football and comment on what he says about football. It's logic.
Win!
CPS - good commenting overall, but I have a little constructive criticism.
1. Try a little more name dropping; it really builds credibility. Stuff like "that's not what Rich told me" or "why don't you ask Gibby if I'm a douche, you dorky little dweeb" goes a long way.
2. One thing you can never overdue: Telling posters that you would/could beat them up if you saw them in real life. Not only is being tough in real life quite meaningful while making message board posts, but saying you'll beat someone up on the net is rock-hard evidence that you are, in fact, a total tough guy.
Just a couple things to work on, you know. I'm here to help.
I don't know. #2 could theoretically lead to getting your ass kicked.
I think it's better to reach into your bag of tricks and pull out lucky #3:
3. Call him a fag
Good call, but this can be tricky. Coachvanhoops had this backfire on him, not sure if you caught it. He tried to be a little too creative in his "call him a fag" usage by saying that he had pictures of CPS wearing blue lingerie (or something like that). If he has pictures of men in lingerie, who is he calling gay, exactly?
Not only did he have pictures of me in blue lingerie, but he said I "looked FINE!!!!" in them. He even "kept a few pictures for, uh, hard times, lol." I think the gueerness got to be too much and it boomeranged on him.
Edit: I was playing crazy eights with Braylon Edwards, Charles Woodson, Tom Harmon and Bo, and they all say "hi."
(was that good name dropping?)
