Sam Webb has a gut feeling
This morning, Sam Webb, on his WTKA show, said he has a "gut feeling" that we'll be getting our first football commit...most likely today.

Commence (possible) rejoicing. Also commence guessing at the identity of the commit...
Is my guess...
Good guess -- that wouldn't shock me but look out for Sparty. It sounds like it'll be close between us and them for Braden.
but for some dumb reason West Michigan is permeated with Spartans. Really, it's the only area I know outside of Lansing like this.
I know, trust me, I live here. Sparty is all over the place.

When you get to the lake shore there seems to be pretty much nothing but M fans. However, everything between there and EL seems to have a vastly high proportion of Sparties trolling around. It's quite disturbing...

Por ejemplo: This morning I honked at a car that took forever to go at a green light -- Sparty license plate.

people would sometimes ask me if I was a state fan after i told them I was from the GR area. Sad.
March 24th, 2011 at 10:23 AM ^
Were you in Rockford? That's where I find the highest concentration of Sparties...
March 24th, 2011 at 10:32 AM ^
Too many. Too damn many.
March 24th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
Me too.
March 24th, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
Thee number of Sparty fans in this area are just too damn high!
March 24th, 2011 at 10:41 AM ^
Yeah, Northland Dr. and Cannonsburg.
March 24th, 2011 at 10:51 AM ^
Right on Silver Lake Dr.

in the old Mr. Fables or the old Jose Babushka's.....

Or Zoomers. Well done on the Jose Babushka's, by the way.
I used to work at River Mountain Golf. 3 summers in a row, and I'd bus as Pietro's the rest of the year, until I went to college.
A lot of Rockford love in the thread today. Always loved River Mountain Golf. The Score is a definite positive replacement, though.
Bank it brother.
with an EGR helmet will swoop in and tell you both to zip it
but true....I hate them.
Yes, too many Spartan fans. Just one of the many things that are all wrong about Rockford.
I have heard the highest concentration is at the speedway.
No wonder I f#%@ing hate Rockford.

Are bar-none the worst I have to deal with in my commutes. It's like they fall asleep at every light...
March 24th, 2011 at 12:43 PM ^
and they're all bandwagoners too!

Beating other people from West Michigan in the bracket challenge was easier this year, considering most had MSU going to at least the elite eight.

I've been just about everywhere in Michigan. When you get outside the SE corner of the state and away from large areas (say, Grand Rapids) it's largely Sparty Nation. Sprinkle some affluence on an area (say, around Traverse City) and the scale will tip back toward UMich.
Drive as far as the western UP and you will, of course, find lots of Packer and Badger fans.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:26 PM ^
I'm from Forest Hills and the FH-EGR area is as much UM as MSU, maybe even a little more UM. Most of my friends were M fans until most of them didn't get in and ended up at State. One of the most annoying MSU friends I have is a kid who was supposed to be my roommate freshman year at M until he didn't get in and ended up at State. At least he can't use the "I got in to Michigan but I wanted to go to MSU" line on me.
It's the meth.
I find that anywhere north or west of Washtenaw County seems to be Sparty-dominated, with the exception of some Blue enclaves in Traverse City and parts of the UP.
Joe Bolden is my guess
Matt Godin. Haven't heard much about him since he visited A2 a couple of times. I think he would like to be Michigan's first commit for 2012. Just a guess of course.
Godin is my guess.
Matt Godin perhaps?
Somewhere, Tim is scrambling to write a "Hello: " piece

I have been itching to read a good Hello: post since signing day.

Might wanna get that shit checked out... seriously.... thats why girls with hardwood floors are the only way to go
Just playing... but wishful thinking on a Thursday never hurt anybody...

He visited yesterday...but highly doubtful.

i love these things. cold and crunchy on the outside, warm and chewy in the middle.

i thought hes visiting today.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Was it yesterday? I was under the impression that today was the day he was supposed to be on campus? Regardless, I highly doubt its him. I"m gonna go with Godin too. We haven't heard much from his camp lately and he was "high" on Michigan and nearing a upcoming desicion from what I've gathered on the situation.
March 24th, 2011 at 10:02 AM ^
Shoulding Sam Webb reserve his "gut feelings" for times associated with an actual player's name? I mean, there's no harm is saying, "Michigan will be getting it's first recruit today". Sam's gut should be used only to name drop someone.
March 24th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
I bet he doesn't want to spoil this kid's opportunity to announce.
March 24th, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
No, that's the point of saying "gut feeling" instead of "he told me personally he'd commit today." If you don't name a player, you might as well come out and just say someone is committing. There's no sense in being doubly vague - I think that's what the above poster was saying, so the negs aren't justified, IMO.
Yes, thank you. That was exactly my point. Apparently you were the only one to understand that
March 24th, 2011 at 10:06 AM ^
Because thats just how he does it when he has info that he can't exactly tell everyone yet. I think it's kinda fun. Better than if he didnt say anything.
