"While we are all lamenting…

"While we are all lamenting a less than stellar start to the season and some are questioning the direction of the program, I think we can all agree that this is something we can celebrate"

I read about half of the comments on this so far and I'm blown away that we CAN'T all agree that this is something we can celebrate.

Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Becky Hammon

I understand there's an inherent gimmick with being the first anything, as Hammon would be, but her skills as a basketball coach seem to be held in really high regard throughout the league. Especially compared to the other two mentioned.

Got a few football related ones

- "Wins and losses is just a statistic" is a more absurd quote than "we aint come to play school"

- Owning a Brady Michigan jersey because of what he has done in the NFL makes little to no sense

- One night game every 4-5 years is the right amount

- John O'Korn was the most NFL ready QB in this years draft

True

Very true. That HOF speech is brutal.

When both left

When Lebron left Cleveland, they proceeded to win 19, 21, 24, and 33 games during his 4 years in Miami.

When Jordan left the Bulls they won 55 and 47 and lost in the Eastern Conference finals both seasons he spent playing baseball (during what the Jordan crowd always argues was a "deeper" league).

The single most impressive thing either of these guys did was Lebron leading BOTH teams in the 2016 final (against the winningest regular season team ever, and against the 2 most recent MVP's) in points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals.

I hate the flopping and the decision and how every post game interview is just him talking about himself unless he's specifically prodded about his teammates, but as a player he's the best there's been.

The BIG HOUSE I grew up in Sylvania, Ohio. One of the most divided areas when it comes to “The Game”. I never really cared much one way or another. I was born in 1989 and while I was very young, I went back and forth. I rooted for players, not teams. I loved Charles Woodson, randomly Drew Henson, so for a few years I loved Michigan. I loved Eddie George, so for a (definitely more brief) few years I rooted for the team from my home state. It all changed in 2004. I had attended games at The Shoe, but never The Big House. In 2004, I came to my first game, vs Iowa. I can still remember the diving one handed grab they made to take a 7-0 lead (thrown by Drew Tate, in his 37th year of eligibility) , followed by a big game from Braylon that led to a comfortable victory. I fell in love with the atmosphere. I fell in love with the pregame band, the chants, Ann Arbor, and with being a part of the largest crowd watching a football game anywhere in America, that day. I never looked back and became a die hard supporter then and there. I have now lived in Ann Arbor for the past 11 years, and haven’t stopped saying Go Blue
Crow Eating

Looking further into it I see PSU had recruited on the level/better than UM those 2 years (HOW?!?!?!?!) and I shed tears remembering some dark times

Sure

But doesn't at least a little bit of that fly out the window when you consider that one of the presumed 3-4 losses in PSU. Considering that PSU was decimated by sanctions in the 2014-2015 era you're discussing? Franklin has a one year head start on Harbaugh. And if somebody told you in 2015 that Harbaugh would be trying to catch up to PSU in terms of preseason national title expectations in 2017 you'd laugh them out of the building.

Also, for the record, I think we beat PSU this year on the field, where it counts. I'm talking only about "expectations".  I just don't think it's "unreasonable" to expect better than 8-4 9-3 at this point, regardless of the talent lost from last years squad.

Why?

I get it being tough to replace kids, but OSU had 12 kids taken in the 2016 draft, 10 in the first 3 rounds, 2 in the top 4 picks, one kid at every position group, and nobody expected OSU to be a 9-3  or 8-4 team last year. The goal posts have been set by the most elite programs to win, send a bunch of kids to the draft (very often early, meaning less time to recruit replacements, which is not the case with UM this year), and continue to win 10+.

He started getting pretty lame towards the end...

Yikes Guy looks like he walked out of the Dog Pound and on to the sidelines. As a Steelers fan, I'm thrilled by the move
Not an easy task

I understand people worrying about bias coming in to the selection process. But wasn't that an argument IN FAVOR of the BCS that everybody seems to hate? These computers would use formulas and not have the inherent bias of human voters....sounds good. Then everybody complains that the "human element" is missing.

I personally am fine with the list. An AD from a B1G, Pac12, Big12, ACC and SEC program. What does it matter if they are there now or they were there a decade ago? The bias will be there either way, but I think using individuals currently involved makes it slightly more likely that they'll be tuned in to the sport as a whole.

Bottom line, I think people are going to be upset either way, but this is a pretty decent list.
