OT: Mike Pettine named HC of the Cleveland Browns

Submitted by mGrowOld on

Well it's official.  My Cleveland Browns have finally named a new HC for 2014 and it's none other than the Bufallo Bills DC Mike Pettine.  The executive staff for the Browns waited one month, allowed virtually all the available DC & OC candidates to find jobs elsewhere, and then hired a guy they could've hired 24 hours after firing Chud.

Strongly rumored to be Pettine's OC is none other than Cam Cameron and no word yet on possible DC  and the DC will be the Bills Linebacker coach (presser going on now).  I'm guessing Pettine got the job for no other reason than he was the first candidate they interviewed that didn't turn them down.

Saw earlier that his daughter posted a tweet saying that she was excited that her dad might get a chance to be a head coach, even if it's "just the browns." Thought that was pretty funny.

As a Browns fan, I'm so glad to see that the organization hired a coach who was probably 8th on their wishlist. I foresee the front office conducting another coaching search in a year or two. Failure is the only thing that the Browns are good at.

Wanted to get in the assist before the whiny bitches showed up.

Cleveland Frowns thinks the hit was an imperial tantrum - remember, it was Haslam's dad that built the Pilot empire, and Jimmy was born with the silver spoon in his mouth. I still think it's hilarious that the anointed successor to the horrors of Shurmurball was canned after doing as well as anyone could have expected in year 1.

Not sure what it means yet but my 27 year old son is listening to the presser live and said he LOVES this guy.  Said he comes off as a complete "bad-ass" and is saying absolutely all the right things right now.

I reminded him so did Brady Hoke.

But looking at his results on the field...they aren't so great. Defense gave up an average of 23.81 points per game last year and he fielded one of the worst run defenses in the league. A high point for Buffalo was its pass defense, which ranked 4th in the NFL for yards per game. I don't know anymore, man.

I'm from the buffalo area and I can assure you Cleveland will have a VERY good defense. The Bills would've made the playoffs this year if it's offense was at all functional.

The bills were so bad on defense before this guy and I'm sure they will be terrible following him.

I think if the browns do well on offense they might be in contention in the north.

They can spin this anyway they want.  This guy has been available since day 1.  Every other candidate was either hired already, or said no.

I will say I liked him in his press conference
