the friends of a friend we pregamed with were surpisingly friendly and courteous. plenty of friendly banter, but it was just that--friendly. same goes for many fans we saw after the game

walking to the stadium was anoher story. had several beer cans thrown at us, chanting of "f**k michigan" (which I was disappointed at the lack of creativity with that), and then just straught up yelling at one another once the crowd started to gather outside the toilet bowl. i mean horseshoe.

all in all, not as dangerous as i thought, but still an experience to fuel my distaste for ohio next time they come to town

Chilling. That was a great team

08/09/2012 - 2:38pm Rex Burkhead?

He's been productive for Nebraska, but really, that's your third best RB in the nation?

Fitting considering whenever I talk to prospective students about Michigan, I tell them its a "work hard, play hard" school.

10/16/2011 - 10:35pm Harbaugh simply was

Harbaugh simply was disrespectful in the fact that his handshake was more of a high-five than actual acknowledgment (this is assuming that he didn't actually direct obscenties at Schwartz). But I mean, was any one actually surprisd by that? He's an emotional guy. Doesn't make him a bad coach or a bad peson, just arrogant or insensitive.

But you gotta love Schwartz's  passion. Brings energy to the Lions.

The Bowl game was Jan 1st. How do you look at your kids and say that not even 6 MONTHS is enough.

I couldn't imagine going to watch Michigan hockey at anything besides Yost Arena. The names of these buildings are so classic and central to Michigan athletics that it's outrageous to change their names.

05/23/2011 - 11:28am I love how we can see exactly

I love how we can see exactly where Hoke's head is with 8/12 recruits on the defensive side of the ball and all from MI or OH. Things looking real good

I'd like to see some kind of analysis like this for our football defense and predicting what we can expect from our youth next year using last year's data

02/20/2011 - 8:51pm Interesting read. I'd be

Interesting read. I'd be curious how it plays out in Pennsylvania as well, considering they are pretty good football recruiting territory as well (I'm thinking of Henne for example, or more recently Cullen Christian)

02/19/2011 - 3:52pm It definitely seems like Hoke

It definitely seems like Hoke wants to be an image of Michigan, with his appearances at basketball, hockey, and Mock Rock. While is success as a coach is gonna be based of his Ws and Ls, you have to be impressed/enjoy the energy and effort he puts forth to be a big part of this school.

Woodson played RB in high school. Someone had to refine his athletic skill into defensive production

01/12/2011 - 10:50pm I've gotten the impression

I've gotten the impression from people who know him (he's from my hometown) that he's basically solid on Michigan. Lifelong fan, local boy... the whole deal

01/11/2011 - 5:50pm posted from iPhone

Denard needs to remember these fans love him. And while our fan base has shown we do not always support our coaches, the team needs to know that we are always loyal to our players and the program they represent. Shoelace!!

01/11/2011 - 5:45pm posted from iPhone

Personally i think his OC is all important. Assuming he can handle the defense (and yes a big assumption it is), his OC is going to be who brings in the recruits. I'm seriously doubting his ability to recruit QBs or WRs (MANBALL don't need no passing!!!) and I think bringing in a QB coach from the NFL might be his best bet to be able to bring in top grade QBs.

01/02/2011 - 3:07pm posted from iPhone

This kid has been toying with his recruitment for far too long. It would appear he never really fell in love with Ann Arbor or the Michigan tradition.
<br>All the best to you Dee Hart but there are many other excellent recruits who love this program and would be honored to play here.

I think RR should be out too but this post is just atrocious. I'd neg you if I wasn't on my iPhone, so please, someone neg him for me

Gotta admit theyre playing better than I expected. Besides the pick six, their d line has put some decent pressure and stuffed the run

01/01/2011 - 9:12pm posted from iPhone

I mean Auburn's offense only put up 17 on Miss St. And I'd say they have a pretty solid offense.

DB absolutely has to know that starting a coaching search today would simply end in failure. He absolutely has to have spoken some coaches already

I eagerly await for the SEC to be 0-6 (or 1-5 if the Spartans lose...which I'm totally okay with) tomorrow night.

12/29/2010 - 12:56pm DB should save his time. Half

DB should save his time. Half of the article's main points are unjustified opinions not based on facts. Not to mention they said one of the reasons RR should STAY is the defense lmao

12/03/2010 - 12:59pm I think something that will

I think something that will clarify all this "Did Harbaugh have actual success debate" will be the bowl game. RIvals projects Stanford playing VA Tech. Should be a good test of Stanford's offense (vs FBS defense with highest turnover margin) and defense (vs Tyrod Taylor and a top 20 rushing offense)

12/03/2010 - 12:53pm He was a three star fullback

He was a three star fullback who was valedictorian of his high school. At first, he must have been more interested in Stanford's academics than their football.

12/01/2010 - 7:48pm Kicked off the Florida team?

Can we stop for a second and consider what Dowling must have done to get him kicked off the Florida team such that he has "no chance" to earn his way back? Meyer has a team that has something like 30 arrests by 28 differnt players. I feel like nothing short of dealing crack during a Gators game while assaulting small children would be a crime worthy of getting kicked of Meyer's team

11/29/2010 - 1:31pm I think it's a reach to

I think it's a reach to suggest that Devin will replace Denard off the start. If we just look at the improvement that Denard has made personally between last year and this year, imagine what kind of progress he can make with a 1st round NFL draft pick quarterback in Harbaugh coaching him. I'm not saying Denard will develop Manning-esque skills in one summer, but I can see him developing some proficiency in pocket passing.

Not to mention, I think people are too quick to assume that Harbaugh is going to come in and try to completely reshape the program into a pure pro style offense. Harbaugh offered Tate, which definitely suggests that he was/is open to running an offense with a mobile quarterback. (If I remember right, wasn't Harbuagh an unusually mobile quarterback for Bo's days?) Also I feel like Harbaug is intelligent enough to see what happened when RR tried to force an offense to be something it isnt.

11/26/2010 - 2:08am Thankful

I am thankful that even when our team endures some of the most painful seasons in the school's history, we still have a die-hard, loyal fan base who remain hopeful and obsessed with seeing that the program is back on track for a national championship. A fan base that still stays hopeful in beating a top 10 OSU team every year. A fan base that remains excited for a 2012 game against the 2010 national champions after a 5-7 season.

Those who stay will be champions.

11/26/2010 - 1:59am Not to mention

Not to mention I have heard a lot about how RR is forcing the defense to run  3-3-5 and plays that GERG doesn't actually have any experience. Not sure how legitimate this info is, but a friend of a friend knows some players well enough to have heard this from them.

Either way, like said above, RR said he wants to keep his defensive staff. So unless he's willing to allow a complete swap of staff and change in defensive scheme, I don't see a simple change in defensive coordinator having a significant impact.

11/12/2010 - 1:53am Facilities

Yeah a comment on the "terrible facilities" is that a coworker told me when he was at a game in Crisler last year, he felt something hit his head. Looking up, he found out it was rain leaking through the ceiling of Crisler onto him.

It's sad that  University with so much endownment and legacy of athletics would have a facility with a leaky ceiling

10/25/2010 - 6:20pm Rivals

Rivals has an article putting PSU as the number one disappointment in this year's recruiting:

http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1143525

I mean, I can't help but wonder if JoePa is struggling to bring in players nowadays. I mean for starters, nobody wants to be the next, "Kevin Newsome"-"Who?" hah

10/14/2010 - 2:40pm hilarious

love it. watching lsu games provides a completely different kind of entertainment than any other football game

10/06/2010 - 1:33pm Better than Indiana

I actually see this game going better for us than last week against Indiana. Chappell just passed all day and tore up our pass defense but the fact is that Sparty is a traditional run based offense. And like this thread has been saying, while our pass defense may be nothing short of atrocious and torn to shreds by any offense that can execute (even UMass...), our run defense is not nearly this bad. I would go so far as to say that we are basically going to score 80-90% of our posessions because Denard is going to be a rude awakening for Sparty's pleasant dreams after Wiscy; but since they like to run more than pass, I think we are going to be able to actually stop some of their drives, unlike we did against Indiana, and that shoul be enough to get us a lead and a win

09/30/2010 - 4:43pm I like the fact that an

I like the fact that an mgoblog user's statistical analysis predicts a michigan win by 11 points when the online spread yesterday (made by professionals) was 10 or 10.5. Legit.

09/29/2010 - 12:51pm crippled defense

Hopefully/probably Cox and Smith will be able to handle Indiana just fine since all I've been hearing is that IU's defense is crippled. Not to mention this game should be a nice wake up call for IU since they've pretty much just played cupcake teams thus far and won't be used to ranked-FBS-team type play
