I'm guessing OP wants to be on the opposite side of the 1 seed in the bracket.

01/24/2018 - 12:39pm Similar to you, in my first

Similar to you, in my first time watching it, I was very conflicted with some of the choices. However, upon 2nd (and 3rd) viewing, I bought much of what the director was selling. It will be interesting to see where they go with the last movie in the saga.

01/21/2018 - 9:37am Ancestry

A lot of times, public libraries have ancesetry departments that allow you free access to ancestry tools. Also, while I haven't done much with my ancestry in the last few years, I used the Church of the Latter Day Saints research database, which is free. Between ancestry.com and the LDS database, that was the majority of my research. Now, if you got serious about it, you can always order microfilm of birth and death records, depending on if they exist from your country of origin. Fascinating stuff.

01/12/2018 - 2:59pm If I had to make a(n

If I had to make a(n uneducated) guess, Pep will be gone and Drevno is looking 50/50 or trending towards staying.

Pep has bounced around the NFL for much longer than Drevno, and since the NFL season is still going on, and unfilled head coaching vacanies and staffs exist, like the Lions, there is still a good chance for the coaching carousel to pick off Pep. While college football staffs are still in flux, I don't see Drevno being picked off for a head coaching gig, or even an OC gig, unless at a lower level. Jim's probably going to have to push him out the door, and that might prove difficult, since they've worked together for so long.

If this comes to fruition, Enos moves into the passing game coordinator role, for better or worse. I just wish they would simplify the offensive heirarchy, and have one O.C.

12/15/2017 - 11:28am Two things:
1) It was

Two things:

1) It was Harbuagh's first year, and he didn't have a quarterback with 2 years of experience and good arm talent in his system, so Rudock won more or less by default.

2) Jake, for as good as he was at the end of the season, really struggled at the beginning of the season. It was a little painful at times.

We don't have the evidence, and won't until we see the competition, but I'm wary of all the transitive property justification going on as the reason why Shea has the leg up to be the starter. Just because he was good in one offense doesn't necessarily mean it will translate when the players and system are completely different.

Many articles breaking Shea down, including on this site, have pointed out the stark disparity between the two offenses, and the quarterback responsbilities for those offenses. Shotgun vs under center is one, but at Ole Miss, the offense didn't often huddle, and looked towards the sidelines for plays and reads. Also, Shea has a habit of being errant with his throws because he is inconsistant with setting his feet.

I think Shea has slightly more natural talent, but he's got alot of work on his plate to take the job away from Brandon.

I think the quote has the forty time off by 2 tenths of a second (4.76 instead of 4.56), because every other stat from the Cleveland regional matches with the original comment.

12/13/2017 - 8:11pm UDFA contract

He's got talent and a good career YPC, but largely unproven at the college game. He was never the primary back in any of the seasons he was eligible. I bet he gets an undrafted invitation for camp, and maybe a practice player contract, but I'm not confident predicting anything more than that without additional evidence. Too bad, I was excited when he transfered, but his potential never fully materialized with a dominant season in blue.

12/13/2017 - 7:56pm I don't disagree, I'm

I don't disagree, I'm spitballing possible solutions to allow the most lucrative athletes an opportunity to make money straight out of high school if they'd like, through minor league contracts. If a minor league was created, it allows NFL teams to draft the best players out of high school. If you're drafted, you get paid. If you aren't drafted, go to college. Offering them minor league contracts seems like the cleanest solution to paying football players. You can still enter the NFL draft after college if you'd like, but you go into it well knowing that you're an amateur in college.

Not me, but there are alot of us that put their talents to use right out of high school and get paid for it. Allowing a kid that has talent playing football the same opportunity might make the most sense. And it avoids having to open up the legal can of worms in regards to how to pay college athletes fairly across the board, especially in the sports and at colleges that aren't revenue generators.

If not that, maybe allow college athletes to use their likeness for endorsement opportunities, something that allows them a revenue stream outside the juridication of the universities.

12/13/2017 - 7:15pm College football is in this

College football is in this prediciment partially due to the fact that the NFL doesn't have a dedicated minor league system, which would give players the opportunity out of high school to make money from their talents if they're good enough.

I'd rather have a minor league system, not disimilar to hockey or baseball, that may strip some of the best players from college football, but allow the universities and its teams to maintain their amateurism and intrinsic tie to acadamia.

12/11/2017 - 5:24pm BP

IMO, I'll take Brandon Peters.I think Shea has slightly more natural talent than the other two, but BP has 2 years in this offense that will be hard for Shea to overcome.

Either way, it's nice to have a stocked cupboard of QBs for the first time since JH arrived and next year the offense will be taken as far as the O-Line can develop.

12/07/2017 - 4:24pm In-state Georgia recruits

The state of Georgia just has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to football recruits. Otis, currently Michigan's highest-rated recruit and #92 overall, is 12th in the state of Georgia. That's nuts.

09/07/2017 - 4:09pm It looks like he got what he

It looks like he got what he wanted.  His Twitter feed has lit up like the Fourth of July.

08/25/2017 - 9:35pm I'm a huge fan of podcasts.

I'm a huge fan of podcasts.  Outside of the Mgoblog and the Michigan Insider podcasts, I listen to the Wolverine 247 podcast and the Wolverine Beat that Mlive used to do.

08/20/2017 - 8:31pm Kind of jealous.  I was at

Kind of jealous.  I was at the Rose Bowl a decade ago, and I was blown away by the amazing weather, no pun intended.  It's been 90 and 75% humidity for a month straight here.  I miss the Michigan summers.

08/20/2017 - 8:19pm Here in Charleston, hotels

Here in Charleston, hotels are completely booked everywhere in the city.  My employer gave us an 'Eclipse Holiday', because experts are estimating enough traffic in the city to mimic hurricane evacuation.  I'm just hoping for clear skies.

07/19/2017 - 4:07pm Controllers

I was never a fan of the Cube; I was more of a Playstation guy myself.  However, nothing frustrated me more as a child then when I would go to a friend's house to play Super Smash Bros. on his 64.  It would take me a while to master the controller, and then once I started to win, we would switch over to the Cube's version, with a totally new controller. Madness.

07/03/2017 - 9:05pm I'm looking forward to seeing

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do, outside the shadow of Jake.  However, I could go the rest of my life without seeing that Alamo Bowl lateral play again. Still painful.

06/26/2017 - 3:47pm Depends on the type of

Depends on the type of content.  If we're talking strictly news and stories, then written all day, everyday. But as a designer and woodworker, seeing a professional doing their craft, live, with commentary is valuable, to say an article covering the same process.

05/16/2017 - 9:10am The rhythm of weekend games,

The rhythm of weekend games, from high school on Fridays, college on Saturdays, then NFL on Sundays is something not to be drastically changed.  Not surprised at all.

05/09/2017 - 11:03am Per some of the twitter

Per some of the twitter replies, another person it could be is the owner of Jimmy Johns, Jimmy John Liautaud.  The guy has a reputation of big game hunting as well.  Pretty sick none the less.

05/09/2017 - 10:27am Exactly.  I use twitter

Exactly.  I use twitter almost strictly for content, like news and sports updates.  I rarely actually tweet and never am one to retweet something like this.  Kudos to him, however.

05/08/2017 - 6:14pm Certainly things will adjust,

Certainly things will adjust, but it should be interesting none the less.

05/08/2017 - 6:12pm Can't help but think that,

Can't help but think that, unless they allow for repeals upon a coach's firing after early signing, the optics of whether a coach is on the hot seat may play more of a role in the early signee's decision.

05/03/2017 - 3:26pm Netflix is around $8, that

Netflix is around $8, that might be to which he is referring.  Netflix is all I need, at most times of the year.

05/03/2017 - 10:17am If Michigan was a Top 5

If Michigan was a Top 5 defense last year, and #1 in certain statistics, I expect them to be somewhere in the Top 20 this year.  There will be a fall off, if for only because there is experience and depth concerns along the front line.  But by years end, they should be humming along quite nicely, barring a rash of injuries to key positions.

05/02/2017 - 4:37pm I'm a little more

I'm a little more pessimistic.  I think to start the season they should be around 15.  The schedule is tricky, but they have the potential to be a top 10 team at the end.

04/28/2017 - 9:40pm Agreed.  I'm hoping the Lions

Agreed.  I'm hoping the Lions select at least one Wolverine.

04/28/2017 - 9:35pm I'm wondering if teams don't

I'm wondering if teams don't think his skill set and physical tools will translate as well to the NFL that his college production would suggest.  The one thing the BIG hasn't had recently is a stable of elite qbs year in and year out.  But I still would have drafted him, so who knows.

04/28/2017 - 9:30pm Jaylon Smith

And a potentially healthy Jaylon Smith, coming off that horrific injury a year ago.

04/26/2017 - 12:40pm PTI

Defnitely liked PTI when I had cable, but now I just listen to the podcast on the drive home.  That's about all the extra-curricular coverage I get from ESPN.

04/05/2017 - 12:03pm Yeah, now that you mention

Yeah, now that you mention it, Netflix has been my best friend as of late.  I should probably focus on that for a while, haha.

04/05/2017 - 11:40am Impact on Urban Planning

As someone tied to urban planning, even if you could acheive a one-to-one ratio between jobs lost in brick and mortar local businesses to Amazon-like, factory-style warehouses, the impact is huge on local communities and society in general.  The loss of community vibrancy through the degredation of human interaction shouldn't be overlooked, much like how twitter and facebook has replaced face to face communication.  Advances in technology, which are meant to make our life easier, will further isolate each one of us in the world, at a time when members of society are having an increasingly harder time relating with one another.

Now whether you believe we as a society have much power to dictate societal evolution through shifts in technology and other sectors is a whole other matter.  It seems that the path of least resistance has always won out in the long run.

03/30/2017 - 8:48am The state has an insane

The state has an insane amount of talent year in and year out.  Good move.

03/21/2017 - 9:29am PadMapper

I use PadMapper when searching for apartments, but I haven't lived in AA for 10 years, and have no idea what a good price is post-recession.  I apologize I can't help more.

03/19/2017 - 11:39pm I'll play the devil's

I'll play the devil's advocate and say that no part of me wants UCLA again.  UK has a better chance at beating UCLA than Arkansas, so I'm glad they won .  But it is like picking your poison, there aren't any really good scenarios.  If it comes to it, that semifinal matchup is looking much harder than the potential NC.

03/19/2017 - 11:12pm Duke vs SC

I'm loving it.

03/18/2017 - 12:59pm I concur.  Whatever makes the

I concur.  Whatever makes the path to a hypothetical Final Four easier, I'm for that scenario.

03/17/2017 - 2:38pm Damn, that was a fun game.

Damn, that was a fun game.  The good news is they won't have to face a better offense in the tournament.  Hopefully Mo can get in a better rhythm next time.

03/16/2017 - 6:33pm Sooo, Rashan Gary is

Sooo, Rashan Gary is currently our fastest LB.  Interesting.

03/09/2017 - 4:07pm On that note, both Miami

On that note, both Miami (YTM) and Oklahoma State lost, both of which help.

03/09/2017 - 3:48pm An argument can be made that

An argument can be made that a 7 seed depends alot more on the other teams around Michigan at this point. Per the Bracket Matrix, as it currently stands, Michigan's a solid 8/9 seed, right in the middle of the pack. If many of those teams around Michigan lose their first round conference tournament games, maybe a 7 seed is attainable, but if they each get a win or two, it'll be pretty tough.  And on Michigan's end, probably a conference final apperance is needed to entertain the thought.  But who knows, Michigan's been making serious waves as of late, and maybe they'll be gifted a higher seed for how they've been playing down the stretch.

On a more general level, I'm intrigued by how the conference's perception has changed in the eyes of the panel in regards to their initial 1-4 seed unveil.

03/09/2017 - 11:23am I'm just glad that everyone is

I'm just glad that everyone is ok.  And honestly, with everything that they have been through in the last 24 hours, it will probably be a relief just to be on the court for a couple of hours, with nothing else to think about.  Go Blue!

03/07/2017 - 9:00pm All time, it's the Office.

All time, it's the Office.  Parks & Rec, BBT, and Whose Line is it Anyway as well.  Favorite current show would have to be House of Cards.

03/07/2017 - 8:56pm Designated Survivor

My wife got me turned onto the half season of Designated Survivor, and it helped pass the time while I wait for House of Cards.  It's a political drama.  Pretty entertaining.

03/03/2017 - 12:09pm Haha, no arguing there, just

Haha, no arguing there, just weird.  I'm officially at the "Get off my lawn" stage of life, and I just graduated less than 10 years ago.

03/03/2017 - 11:54am I've never minded having the

I've never minded having the logo of Jordan dunking on our merchandise, since it's usually small and unobtrusive, but seeing two large logos of Jordan dunking on the football field is kind of funny and out of place, at least to me.

03/03/2017 - 10:40am I never played football, but

I never played football, but I was a good thrower on the track team.  I had strong legs/back and below average upper body strength. My high school coach, who doubled as a football couch, once told me that bench press was one of the worst indicators of athletic ability there is.  Not to say it doesn't carry any importance, but all power is generated from the ground up, through your legs.  Squats, power cleans, and other leg/total body/explosive exercises are a much better indicator of strength and explosion.

If a running back, who is a beast at the bench press, doesn't have proper balance and technique to transfer power from his lower to upper body, it won't matter how much he can bench.
