05/13/2018 - 9:29pm One other great book is Last

One other great book is Last Best League by Jim Collins. It’s one season of the Chatham A’s of the Cape Cod Baseball League. If you’re unfamiliar, CCBL is a summer wooden bat league for college baseball’s elite. The book covers the history of the league while following a team from roster selection through the following MLB draft. It’s a damn-near perfectly written baseball book.

Side note: last year’s CCBL champs were the Brewster Whitecaps, who won the 3 game championship series on the backs of two wins by UM’s Will Tribucher (Game 1 in relief, Game 3 as a starter), and a Game 3 save from UM’s Troy Miller. Go Blue.

02/04/2018 - 12:01pm If you can come to the

If you can come to the conclusion that there were two trainers (on of whom was known as “The Deflator”) complaining about Brady’s demands for a lower pressure ball but nobody ever actually tried to deflate footballs, then I don’t know what to say. (Yes, the whole investigation was bunk and science does. Most of the exonerating, but there’s no way they weren’t trying to monkey with the balls)

Saying that Michigan people never cheat or do bad things is how you wind up with a brainwashed lunatic fan base like PSU. Acknowledge faults and flaws and that we aren’t perfect just because we went to Michigan.

Can't disagree with this more.  Playing Tennessee and Arkansas and Washington and Va Tech is awesome.  Dumping all those games to wind up with mid-season games against Notre Dame sucks.

12/02/2015 - 10:27pm Saying that because he did

Saying that because he did something that could be interpreted as different than Bo would have done 50 years ago is proof that he didn't belong at Michigan is the most homerishly, condescendingly arrogant pile of crap I could imagine. That's why people hate Michigan fans.

Because it's a HC job at a school with a major shoe company pouring in money, in a premier conference in fertile recruiting grounds.

K-State was nothing until the right guy came around.

Oregon was nothing until the right guy came around.

OK State was nothing until the right guy came around.

Maybe Durkin's the right guy at Maryland, maybe he isn't. But turning down a good opportunity because it hasn't been successful in the past is a failing attitude.

Adidas' fan gear is even worse than the uniform debacles.  Even if the team continued to be outfitted by adidas (or Champion, or Bill's Jersey Hut), the switch to Nike is worthwhile just to have the ability to buy better stuff for ourselves.

So, the same dude who whines about old people in the stadium telling him to sit down is now throwing an internet hissy fit and threatening a kid for suggesting something outside of tradition?  I'm unsure of whether the irony or idiocy here is more noteworthy.

Not cool.

02/08/2015 - 3:48pm How perfectly convenient that

How perfectly convenient that you all feel this way about the guys who chose other schools. I'm quite sure that if they had gone blue, you would have been upset about their inclusion in our program, because they are such awful headaches.

This surely has nothing to do with post hoc rationalizations and sour grapes...the problem is 100% with the 17 year old kid who didn't make the biggest choice of his life in a time frame that suited your needs. Those kids are screwed up, and you folks are righteous.

Of course, all those guys who committed to other schools before flipping to M are just making sound decisions. Nothing headachy about them, amirite???

Mock drafts tend to be a lagging indicator.  Expect to see his stock drop in the coming weeks.  Now, he may still get a 1st round grade (in which case he should jump), but I wouldn't make any conclusions based on what you're seeing now.

Not to belabor a dumb point...but Brandon was the one who started that campaign.  It was announced months before he stepped down as CEO, and the planning (and overhaul of the pizza) was done during his tenure.

There are a like eleventy billion reasons to criticize Brandon.  This isn't really one of them.

06/26/2014 - 6:44pm This is literally the

This is literally the stupidest thing anyone has ever complained about in any medium at any point of human history. Debating over whether an even is muppet-worthy makes me embarrassed to be affiliated with you people in any way, shape, or form.

06/25/2014 - 6:58pm All of you people who think

All of you people who think that, in a world of strictly ala carte pricing, you could dump everything but sports and stream the rest somewhere else are living in a fantasy world.

Without cable subscriber fees, what incentive does AMC have to make Breaking Bad or Walking Dead? Why would FX produce Justified or Sons of Anarchy? They wouldn't. Simple economics.

You may get away with free riding under the current system, but if things go the way you seem to want them to, you would wind up with fewer options. Either content would be produced in lower quantities or the resulting ala carte fees would wind up with you paying the same amount for sign

Idi antsy fewer channels.

Either way: less choice.

06/02/2014 - 12:17pm The idea of an "anti-Michigan

The idea of an "anti-Michigan bias" is so homeriffically laughable as to be straight ridiculous.

06/02/2014 - 8:25am The line was comprised of 2

The line was comprised of 2 NFL draf picks and a whole pile of highly recruited guys.  If we roll those guys out there and produce a MAC-caliber performance, then there is a huge problem.  Youth may mean that we shouldn't have had an absolutely dominant line, but it doesn't excuse the level of play that we saw.

As for blaming the players..."execute better" explicitly means that the plan was fine but the players weren't making it happen.  So, either they were capable of executing and didn't do it (which is blaming the players) or they were incapable of executing (which means they aren't being developed well).  Either way, it falls right in with what Urban said.

Meyer is a buttplug, no doubt.  But getting all up in arms because he pointed out that we have tons of talent to go with a 7-6 record is item #13,345,421 on the list of reasons that he is a pile.

05/15/2014 - 10:15pm Just a Suggestion

Many of us don't follow recruiting that closely, but are still interested in these posts.  It would be helpful to include even a single line explaining who the kid is.  For instance:

"Darrin Kirkland Jr. (LB - Indianapolis, IN, 2015) has been a frequent visitor to Ann Arbor..."

05/07/2014 - 2:43pm "Irvin and Walton are the

"Irvin and Walton are the first top-50 recruits John Beilein has ever had"

You mean other than McGary and GRIII?

He can barely play high school ball, he isn't going to play here.  I am sure that he'll be involved in the program, but it'll almost certainly involve wearing a suit.

04/10/2014 - 8:32am His story is amazing and I'm

His story is amazing and I'm glad that UM honored the offer.  But expecting him to play is a huuuuuuuuuuuge stretch.  Let's be honest...he played in 4 games this year and scored a total of 6 points.  He's going to come here and wind up on a medical scholarship quickly.

04/09/2014 - 12:13pm Players have until today to

OSCR dude says the process can take up to a semester. Gibbons is dumped a semester after the incident became much more public. True, we don't know to a 100% certainty how it unfolded, but an awful damn lot of you are sounding like JoPa supporters right now.
