01/01/2017 - 6:40pm Definitely some bad luck

Definitely some bad luck there, compounded by things like Newsome's injury and losing out on Devery Hamilton and Isaiah Wilson. The OL is in need of some Graham Glasgow-level gems in hiding.

That 2013 OL class is painful to go back and look at. Kugler is the only one left and still has yet to make an impact. Dawson, Kyle Bosch, Chris Fox, and Logan Tuley-Tillman are all gone now. Thanks Funk!

09/28/2016 - 10:27pm Well Brian did mention back

Well Brian did mention back in the summer they were looking to upgrade the site I believe. Long overdue because honestly the look and functionality of the site is rather inexcusable for 2016. The blog content is great but everything else desperately needs an upgrade.

10/26/2015 - 7:22pm It's not physically possible

It's not physically possible to adjust to a lot of the deep balls Rudock has overthrown this year unless we teach Usain Bolt how to play football. Or an actual cheetah.

06/14/2015 - 10:12pm 2 star TE/DEs

JJ Watt was a 2-star TE coming out of high school. I can only conclude that Weaver is going to be Watt 2.0 for us.

Biggest misses that come to mind, given our WR and OL situation lately, is Treadwell and Josh Garnett. Da'shawn Hand definitely hurt as well.

Urban had the huge and practically unprecedented luxury of taking his pick from Penn State's class after it fell apart from the JoePa/Sandusky scandal. Without that he wouldn't have had 4 of those 5 guys on your list.

09/17/2014 - 4:47pm Ryan Glasgow

So have we decided that the Order of St. Kovacs gets the credit for Glasgow over the Heininger Certainty Principle? Or is this like a Captain Planet situation where the powers of Kovacs and Heininger combined make Glasgow go full beast mode?

01/08/2014 - 10:50pm Josh Rosen

I'd be curious to see if this piques Josh Rosen's interest at all. Also it would be pretty funny if Dee Hart ends up transferring to Michigan.

10/29/2013 - 10:34pm PER

PER is not +/-, if that's what you're implying. +103 is absolutely insane +/- though.

10/26/2013 - 9:49pm OSU

OSU has now scored more points against PSU in one half than we could in a 4 OT game.

10/19/2013 - 8:38pm On the one hand

On the one hand, yes Indiana defense is bad. On the other hand, we couldn't similarly shred Akron or UConn. So I'll take it.

Discovering that video yesterday is the only thing salvaging my weekend so far.

09/23/2013 - 1:32pm Misconception

There are 4* linemen everywhere and we can't find someone who can get a push at center and/or left guard?

This is a misconception that I've been trying to point out since Saturday. By my count we have four interior OL recruits from the 2010-2012 classes: Miller, Bryant, Kalis, and Bars (not counting Glasgow as the walk-on). Out of that group, Miller was a 3-star, Bryant and Bars I believe were both hovering around that 3-4 star border, and Kalis we all know about. Miller and Kalis are already starting, Bryant had injury issues but might get a shot soon, and Bars doesn't seem to be ready. So no, we do not have "4* linemen everywhere" just waiting to jump in and save the day. Unless you mean the 2013 class who are true freshmen, which I think people can agree is probably a bad idea. Hate to bring up The Coach That Must Not Be Named, but the 2010 and 2011 OL recruiting classes are directly responsible for the state our interior OL is currently in.

09/22/2013 - 11:03am As I said in the other

As I said in the other snowflake thread, look at our OL and WR recruiting in 2010 and 2011. It's not really a surprise that those are our weakest positions this year. Miller and Bryant are our only OL from both classes, and we've already seen what we have with Miller. Even from the 2012 class, Kalis is our only interior OL. 3 interior OL in the last 3 classes combined... yeah. The cavalry arrived with the monster 2013 OL class, but it won't take effect til next year at the earliest when they're all redshirt freshmen. More likely it'll take until 2015.

WR is in a similar boat, with Gallon being the only hit from 2010 and 2011. The really sucky part is that we would be in a pretty good or even great spot at WR this year if Darboh wasn't hurt and if Ole Miss weren't cheating scumbags who (IMO) pretty obviously paid Treadwell to steal him from us. Treadwell and Darboh on this offense would have changed things big time.

09/22/2013 - 1:37am All goes back to RR

Take a look at our OL and WR hauls in 2010 and 2011. Now take a look at what our shittiest positions are this year.

09/20/2013 - 5:37pm I figured there was a statute

I figured there was a statute of limitations issue, but in a hypothetical world where the NCAA was competent, this would have to be a huge case of "where there's smoke there's fire". In other words, if former Tennessee players said they were getting paid, wouldn't that be enough reason for at least a token audit or investigation or something into the current program just to check that it's not still ongoing?

And there has been a lot of smoke around the sudden recruiting prowess of Ole Miss...

09/11/2013 - 7:46pm Receivers

Having not really paid much attention to Sparty, how are their WRs so bad? I thought Burbridge and Arnett were supposed to be top-flight prospects?

09/10/2013 - 1:02pm Speaking of awesome GIFs

Saw this on the 247 board, didn't see it make its way over here yet:

09/08/2013 - 12:29am Offense

The offensive numbers were great, but I can't shake the feeling that we've merely upgraded from a one-man show (Denard) to a two-man show (Gardner/Gallon). Here's hoping our run game can be better against non-Nix DLs. Also concerning, has Chesson even been targeted through these first two games yet?

09/08/2013 - 12:25am Weird game

We lost the battle on both lines, but still were sitting in a comfortable position for most of the game until The Incident.

Although you should really be using Firefox or Chrome over Internet Explorer anyway.

07/27/2013 - 6:10pm Holy shit.

edit: drooling thinking about Morris to Harris and Campbell. Two WRs that could demand double coverage??

Be careful what you wish for. A guy with a Tim Tebow avatar just replied to you...

07/01/2013 - 5:15pm This.

Combo guard just means you can't pass well enough to play PG, and can't shoot well enough to play SG.  The players who can truly do both inevitably become stars (Harden, Curry, Ginobili in his prime).

On a somewhat related note, it seems that shooting has increasingly become a less important skill for PGs these days. Guys like Rondo, Parker, Rose, Westbrook, and Conley have average-at-best shooting ability.

06/19/2013 - 12:20am Instant classic

But that was a foul on Allen on Manu's last drive, and a foul on Bosh on Green's last 3 attempt.

That being said, I don't really care which team wins, I'm just glad for an incredible game and a Game 7 coming up.

06/18/2013 - 6:14pm Elkton Christian

From what some posters on 247 mentioned, it sounds like this "school" is a thinly veiled attempt by David Sills' dad to create a superteam around his son. If the name sounds familiar, it's because this is the QB who committed to USC/Kiffin in 7th grade. So yeah, nothing shady going on here...

06/18/2013 - 12:43pm Jalen

There's also 2014 MI CB Jalen Embry and 2014 AZ WR Jalen Brown. Definitely doesn't seem like a coincidence for a sudden burst of Jalens 20 years after the Fab Five. Speaking of which, now I'm curious about Juwann Bushell-Beatty...
