10/26: Night Games Open Thread

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

A very good slate of games tonight...

7:00 PM No. 12 UCLA at No. 3 Oregon
7:00 PM No. 21 South Carolina at No. 5 Missouri
7:00 PM No. 8 Baylor at Kansas
8:00 PM Penn State at No. 4 Ohio State
10:30 PM No. 6 Stanford at No. 25 Oregon State

Also...Oklahoma/Texas Tech had a hour and a half delay so they're only in the 3rd quarter. However, they'll be switching the game to FOX News because the World Series at 7:30p.

According to TeamRankings, Penn State is a 16.5 point underdog tonight with an O/U on points set at 56.5. That means that they are thinking a 36-20-ish score, if I am not mistaken. I think Massy gave Ohio State an 85% or so win probability too.

Currently, however, I have UCLA - Oregon on TV.

a 1 1/2 hour rain delay, does the Texas Tech @ Oklahoma game now qualify as a night game?  And where's "Wolverines Dominate" to argue this point?

...but Hoke is typically pretty agressive in 4th down situations.

That said, our special teams under Hoke have been a JOKE. We get NO field position out of the return game and we don't cover returns well enough. Thank God we've got a solid kicker and the punters have been pretty good for the most part.

I agree that our returns haven't been great (though turnovers aren't an issue anymore there, aside from one freak bounce in the UConn game) but our coverage has been pretty good.  I don't recall a long punt return against us all season, and only a couple of kickoff returns that went beyond the 35.

So, Baylor already has a TD and over 100 yards of offense even though we're just coming to the halfway point of the first quarter. Looking as Kansas' average production on offense, another TD and this game is officially out of control.

21-0 Baylor now with a little less than 4 minutes to go in the first quarter. 257 yards of offense across 24 plays, so almost 11 yards per snap.

I wonder if Weis will wander into a strange world of denial and tell someone on the Kansas sideline that the scout team out there is just phenomenal and perhaps they should use them in the next game.

Baylor now has 327 yards of offense (and counting) over only 29 plays, which is an 11.72 yards per snap clip. This is getting into Tecmo territory right now. Of those yards, 222 are passing yards - Bryce Petty is 10 for 17.
