His HS league isn't exactly a college bball pipeline. Rural PA, 98% 6' - 6'5" white kids... Probably why his recruiting took off on the AAU circut this summer.
I coach girls basketball in the same league Eli plays in, it is a very white area, but the white dudes aren't all under 6' tall. The league is very competitve. His school is typically a doormat and won their first league title since 1971 last year.
Wish him the best of luck. However, Clemson is 89th in ST and Alabama is 83rd. As long as we can be middle of the road, it shouldn't have a huge impact.

At this point, 9-3 would feel disappointing to me. We should MANBALL the little sisters of the poor and take down either OSU, MSU, or (hopefully) both.
According to Phil Steele we returned the most experience in the country. Who knew it would come together the way it did against BYU so soon, but the team seems to understand this is a marathon and not a sprint exactly the way an experienced team should. I think the Buckeyes will be coming to the Big House with a B1G title berth on the line, just the way the conference drew it up. Makes me feel like it's 2006 again, especially with how the defense is playing.
I can't express how bad of an idea I think that is.
Let's have the JV game count for 1/2 a game in high school sports, and the 9th grade for maybe 1/10th game and the 7th/8th for .002 percentage point adjustment on winning percentage.
We can score the cheerleaders on looks and give points on their cheering, and the band has to count for something right? How would we rate their show performace vs their in-game performance.
It's like the YMCA... Everybody plays... Everybody wins.

I tend to disagree with the notion that "Michigan isn't expected to do much this year," we return more experience than Brady Hoke's first season and we won a BCS bowl. Harbaugh has 6 months to find a QB and we should be ready for take off.
I agree with MGOBender, and I also coach basketball for a very successful high school program in PA, all points and minutes are equal only if you don't account for home court, momentum, player's energy, and time to adjust to the game as it is happening.
It is clear that if you pick up 2 fouls in the first half you go to the bench. Just as all of us know this, the players know this. They need to either play better defense (not fouling) or make smarter decisions to not foul BECAUSE of the depth concerns.
The depth concerns aren't an excuse to leave them on the floor. It is easier to "steal" minutes with role/bench players in the first half then it would be the final 5 minutes of a conference road game.
I read something today about this, how Harbaugh was telling Cole that Richard Sherman was originally recruited as a WR and coverted to CB, so we will see how it plays out, but I believe that seed has already been planted.
I remember Kozan started for Auburn last year in the NC game as a RS FR... Top schools almost always have a couple RS or true freshman starting, because they are only going to be there for 3 years.

I'm pretty sure we only had 10 on the field for a special teams play early in the year. I remember thinking to myself "some things never change."
If you look at the Football Outsiders breakdown, our fg kicking, punt and kr defense, and fg defense were all very average.
We were ranked highly in KR and PR, and Peppers and Chesson will do that.
I don't see a big drop off coming.

It's analytics based, hype based is us believe OSU and MSU are really 1 and 2 in the country.

I bet on football (pretty consistently and successfully) and while you are right about "sharps" betting against the public you were correct.
In this instance however, BYU was about 62% public. The "sharps" are who moved the line 1 to 1.5 points Thursday into Friday.
The punt/counterpunt predictions did a great job at illustrating how a "square" or public views a game. Where a "sharp" notices BYU had:
1. Had run the gauntlet of a brutal schedule of travel the first four weeks.
2. 10 AM start (their time)
3. Gave up over 300 yards rushing to UCLA the week before; Mistakes by Rosen are the onyl thing that kept that reasonably close.
4. MANBALL vs an injured front 4.
