WTF is AXS tv and why in God's name

Submitted by 93Grad on

would they have a major pre-season hoops tournament played on a channel that no one has ever heard of and many do not get?

Is there some way I can blame either Delaney or Brandon for this?

Edit-  for those not in the know, this is the random tv channel that is showing the Battle for Atlantis tournament which Michigan is playing in this week.

You know what?  I hate ESPN, but I can't disagree with your comment on their college sports coverage.  They do have the best coverage of ALL college sports.  I just wish they would get rid of most, if not all, of their stupid studio debate programs and broadcast more college sports.

I would 10,000 times rather watch a tape delayed college game (hockey, water polo, swimming, field hockey, lacrosse, whatevah) than watch those dumb asses on ESPN argue with each other over contrived hot points.

Good Lord, I hope so.  What evidence have you seen of that?

I don't ever turn on ESPN until 6:00 at night or, usually, later.  I remember when I was in my early 20's I had ESPN first thing in the morning.  I'm not sure if this is a sign of my maturity (probably not) or just pure viewing habits.

I really can't stand it, though.  These scripted "debates" are the worst thing going.

I've always assumed that these knuckleheads they're propping up there must not get paid very much.  That's why ESPN has so many of them filling air time.  I've also wondered if the expense of covering (or just getting the rights to air someone else's product) college or "other" sports (curling, track & field, cliff diving, etc.) would equally affordable for them.

Hell, I caught cliff diving on (I think it was FS1) not too long ago and my wife and kids and I sat and watched it for probably a half an hour.  It was pretty damn entertaining.  They were diving off of some bridge in Spain.  Yes, I know it's not technically cliff diving.

Anything is better than these dumb asses ESPN keeps rolling out there.

I love this channel - they show a lot of great music content - live concerts and festivals. It's prominently positioned right before all of the sports channels on my Verizon Fios line-up so I'm frequently watching it. Had no idea we had an upcoming game on this channel.

Not the NCAA tournament or the NIT. AXS carries the other one no major school wants to go to, except Pitt and Butler. The one the school that wasn't one of the 67 selected for the NCAA or the 32 selected for the NIT and has to pay to be in. The participation trophy of postseason basketball.

Hey guys, don't worry. I get that channel apparently. Also, while checking to see if I had it, I caught the tail end of an Eric Clapton special (on said channel).

but was rebranded as AXS TV.  It's owned by Mark Cuban and really has/had some pretty good independant programs televised.  Some of which I wish they would still rebroadcast but for reason they haven't.  Dan Rather Reports, World's Coastlines From Above, and Concert Series are some of the programs.

AXS TV is a JV between Mark Cuban and AEG. AEG leverages the network as a way to broadcast some of the sports/music events at venues that it operates. I suspected that AEG operates the venue where the tournament is held, but it doesn't look like that is the case...interesting move by AXS.
