Worst We'll See?

Submitted by Sten Carlson on

I am going to come right out and say that I firmly believe that the 2015 season opener vs. Utah will be the WORST game Michigan plays under Coach Harbaugh.  I don't care if he coaches Michigan for 20 years, what we saw Thurdays was as bad as it's ever going to get!

Call me overly optimistic, but to me the difference between Team 135 and Team 136 is marked.  Whenever I thought we'd seen the worst that a Hoke team could play, whenever I was sure that they'd finally start to improve, they'd deliver another shockingly bad performance against weaker and weaker opponents.

That will not happen under Harbaugh, you can bank on that.

Go Blue, beat the Beavers! (he he he!)

What a bunch of depressing motherfuckers in here. Some of you guys act like we should concede to msu & OSU right now. Remember who we have as coach. Think of players we haven't even see play yet. The Drake's - Wheatley Jr - Gentry. JH wants to beat both of those two worse than any of us do even. He will be scheming all season for those two games.... & we just might win both!

While I'm stopping far short of guaranteeing victory, the idea that MSU and OSU are going to "curb stomp" us and that we're all so sure of this is disheartening. Virginia Tech led OSU at half last night. And, maybe, just maybe, if their starting QB doesn't break his collarbone, they keep that game closer.

MSU is certainly not invincible.

You do remember that a crappy Stanford team beat USC as 41 point underdogs.

but once Harbaugh agreed to coach Michigan, I have flipped 180 degrees. I know Harbaugh cannot work magic or flip a switch to make us B1G champions this season, and I will not get down if we only win 6 games since I know in 5 years Harbaugh will turn this program around! I'll just enjoy watching a Harbaugh coached team and watching these kids improve. No matter it we finish 6-6 or 10-2!

The o- line better improve rapidly and the team better find a new H-back because Poggi was awful. Or it is going to be a very long season, beacuse the run game will never get going with those efforts on Thursday.

Though I'm starting to think the recruits were overrated or just got horrible coaching in the beginning. They need to get nastier and start pushing the DL off of the LS and not let the DL implode on them like UT DL did! If our OL does not improve we will not do well against the better more physical DL. It may end up taking a while until Harbaugh's 2015 class to start taking over on the OL

The claim is bold, but it's not outlandish. When a top coach takes a new job at a struggling program, usually his first season there winds up being his worst at that job. So, there is a good reason to predict that 2015 will be Harbaugh's worst season at M (record-wise, at least). And it's often the case that the worst game a football team plays in a given season is its first game--with many of the easiest, most enduring corrections made between week one and week two. Put those two notions together, and there is some reason to believe the Utah game will be the worst game in the worst season of Harbaugh's M tenure.

My fear, personally, is that M has several roster spots at which there is a competent starter but no proven backup. If we sustain a few key injuries, this team could look a hell of a lot worse. Hopefully that won't happen and Sten's declaration will turn out to be true (at least for this season), but there really is no way of predicting that.

I think it's quite possibly the worst we'll see. Not to sound like a pessimist but I projected this game to result in a loss. A win would have been icing on the cake but all I wanted to see was our team play with toughness and determination. Despite the mistakes, I saw that toughness and determination. I could tell that this is a team that wants to win. Considering the fact that this was the first game and our opponent is actually a good (and seasoned) football team and considering the fact that it was a road game in a tough environment I think we did fairly well under the circumstances. We were only a play or two away from winning that game. I think as the season progresses and our offense gels, we'll be a tough team to beat. I'm still going with my 8-4 prediction with a notable win over sparty.

This will probably be the worst overall season we see in terms of W-L record, as it's the first season and Harbaugh is just beginning to clean up Hoke's mess. Even Saban went 7-6 his first year at Bama and lost to La. Tech I think. But I do not think this will be the worst, or last, game we see where a Harbaugh team lay an egg or just have a bad game.

OSU won the national title last year, but got humiliated at home by an unranked VaTech team last year. Bad losses happen at every level of football. Won't be the last time we see it with Harbaugh, either.

Looking at the game that was the worst game a quarter back can ever have.   And didnt want to put too much presure on him but he was a vetran at the end of the day.  But the great thing about it was we took a loss early and I see that the team really stayed together and bonded through out the entire game and still managed to compete until the end of the game.

I am super excited about the upcoming weekend and see the guys learn from all the mistakes and to correct them.
