WLA in the house

Submitted by wolverine1987 on
Here's another June post I wouldn't bother with if anything was happening, but as we know, nothing is happening. And when nothing is happening, given that we're M grads and/or fans, the subject will often turn to our second favorite topic- ourselves and this blog. So I'm tossing in my opinion on what seems to be a controversial topic with some people- the WLA. Given that anti-WLA references seem to pop up without regard to the subject of a given thread, it seems some here have sort of a simmering grudge on. Not me. I think this blog is different from others because of, among other reasons, the community here, some of whom contribute intelligence, wit, perspective, a fierce passion without homerism, and humor. And I think the WLA members contribute more than their fair share of that. Granted, it's high school intelligence, childish wit, marxist perspective, juvenile humor and a certain fascination with space, unicorns and women that speak Klingon, but there's room in the M universe for that. So welcome WLA, good to see Chitown back, and I hope we get full participation from them here in future.

I think we need a balance of WLA and GBMW, more of the former, but I think that the two ends of the spectrum make for good balance on MGoBlog. No sugarcoat. BTW, this is OT, but I just realized that Phil Steele is a horrible writer who writes like GBMW.

Steele may be a horrible writer, and his 1000 original acronyms are really annoying if you don't know what they mean, but his magazine and the amount of info he crams into it make Athlon/Lindy's/etc. look like absolute jokes. I used to get Athlon every year until I read the sentence "Morgan Trent is poised to become Michigan's next great lockdown corner." Never again.

The acronyms are irritating, but thats because there's so much info. His insight is usually good however, his predictions are the most accurate. It's really irritating how he pumps himself up so much, and the use of "I" in the magazine is too much for my liking. He says that M was screwed last year because of the turnover margin and had 3 net close losses (4 close losses, one close win, as defined by a TD or less), so that coupled with some f RR's "guys" they are his #4 most improved team (Illinois is #1 most improved and Penn State is his #1 biggest surprise.) He has M tied for 6th in the conference.

the only reason WLA exists is because we all commented on Mgo and developed a lot of latent homo love for each other. people can think what they want of the site or what we say here, but (and this only goes for me, i'm not speaking on behalf of the whole group) the fact i comment here and sometimes bitch about the level of discourse here while completely ignoring scout/rivals/mlive should tell you what site my e-heart belongs to. dex 3 you all

I keep thinking about guys in leather jackets snapping their finges and walking down the street in like some anarchistic version of westside story.

In the corner twiddling thumbs and wondering why the hell dex has a pic of an used tea bag on the beach...or is it like one of those filter thingies that they use in coffee machines...either way it makes me think of life and contemplate its meaning.
