Why so many empty seats in top 15 rows of Sec. ~24-~28?
Haven't been to the Big House in about 10 years. Noticed all kinds of empty seats in the top 15 or so rows of Sec. 24-28(approximately). Are these seats reserved for suite holders who just decide to stay in the suites? Is it possible that that many students don't use their tickets and all squeeze down?

It bugged me too, but it looks like it's happening at many programs now.

That's the student section, and it generally happens like that.
Negative take: gosh darn students aren't showing up to the games
Positive take: the students get those seats but they leave them and squish down into the lower rows
Realistically it's probably some combination of the two.

I do have to add.
The student section definitely squeezes down.
I was there 01 to 06 and the plan of my usual group was to show up just in time for kickoff. Squeeze down for big games and sneak back up to the upper sections and burn another, pretty much each quarter.
I highly doubt that our plan was original, and that it has changed for a majority of students.

The students squeeze down.
You can see it clearly during maize-outs. Everybody in the stadium is wearing maize, but the maize in the student section is especially dense because they all squeeze down close to each other.

You probably saw the student section. Possible reasons for empty seats:
1.) Michigan was playing Northwestern and the students expected a win.
2.) Too early of a game from the Friday night parties.
3.) Mom & Dad paid for the tickets.
4.) Not all the tickets were sold.
5.) Too cold.

5) I actually got quite warm as the game went on and the sun was shining. It was over 50 anyways which is perfect weather for a game.

Historically, the section just to the right of the Student Section has always been devoted to RECENT alumni.
Needless to say, after last year (plus a myriad of other reasons), recent alumni have not been enthused.

Not at all correct. There is no “recent alumni” section. As an alum who bought tickets, no corner was less favorable. And after spending our first 3 years on the opposite side, we recently moved to that area. They’re all the same. Same amount of secondary ticket sales. Same amount of arguing about sitting vs standing for games.

The students always squeeze down so it makes it look more empty than it really is

It's student section, they tend to show up late or not at all for noon, non-marquee games. Even when they're there, they tend to push downwards leaving the top looking empty.

Better question. Why so many dumbass snowflake threads after a big win in the middle of a 7-0 year?

Obligatory “because you touch yourself at night” comment.

Here's a non-surprising revelation - there were lots of empty seats all around the stadium. You could see many in the two sections around us. And if you had binocs and scanned around the bowl you'd have seen quite a few more. That's just the way it is these days.

And yet they still announce 109k people. Id love to know real attendance.

Vast majority is squishing down. In the lower rows there are twice as many people as there are supposed to be. They stand most of the game and stand sideways to fit.

When you only get 16" per seat, how do you squeeze down? When i was in school in the early 90s a third of the student section was adults that complained of we took their seats.
