Just dumb sometimes!! For a guy who has coached for 20+ years, how can you do something so stupid? Why have Walton on a big? Michigan might have bad luck, but they got dumb coaches and players who just aren't smart in closing situations.

Is that Walton and Wilson switched when Pardon set a back screen. So the huge question is........ WHY TELL YOU BIG MAN TO SWITCH WITH THE POINT GUARD ON A SCREEN LEAVING YOUR 6 FOOT PG "GUARDING" THE OTHER TEAMS CENTER?

adding the .4 seconds allowed time for that play by  Northwestern.  Tough road loss against a hungry, less talented Northwestern team.

I've never agreed with not calling an available timeout at the end of a game like that. I get it, control the pace and find an open shot by catching the defense in transition panic. But, look what happened: a poor shot was taken by the overall least consistent shooter without any awareness of how much time would be left on the clock (which proved to be one second too many). If you call timeout, you can at least deploy something with some awareness of the clock and player with the ball. In my opinion, not a good coaching decision at all, ESPECIALLY when you only needed a 2 pointer to win the game.

I was surprised. But then I hit myself for being surprised. The Evan Turner shot, the Wisconsin half court shot, the death to backboards shot. Tonight was typical of an opponent getting off the shot against us and of course they got it. Lather, rinse, repeat. I can't stand watching us play away from Crisler.

Why you guard the inbound passer with an entire court to go and less than 2 seconds to go. What is he going to do? A full court shot heave is what you want them to have to take. Take the guy guarding the ball and put him by the rim. Helps tremendously.

Let's see - where to begin ... I will say we got Northwestern's best effort. They were desperate. That said, they aren't very good, so being in a close game with them doesn't exactly fill me with much confidence for a long tournament run. Where was DJ the last 4 minutes? Only saw him on that final play. We get a rebound. We don't call a TO. Irvin jacks a 3. I believe he's been shooting a robust 5% on 3's the past month so I'm not sure that was our best option. Ball appears to go off Northwestern. No real replay shown on this. Northwestern calls TO. We come out with Wilson on the passer. Good idea. Then Beilein calls TO and inexplicably moves Donnal onto the passer. Donnal has alligator arms and no jumping ability, giving the thrower an easier pass than if he had to throw it over DJ. If we make it to the tournament (I don't think we're off the bubble yet - lose to Nebraska and in the first game of the BTT and we'd be sweating), all can be forgiven if we have a long run. But based on how we play away from Crisler - against a pretty weak Big Ten conference - odds are pretty high we aren't making it past the first weekend.

This team is great at home but loses all of it's balls on the road. Never understood how road games can be so tough? There is nothing better than shutting up a screaming crowd over and over and draining the life out of them and their players. I guess only some of us thrive in those situations. As for Wilson, what the F was he doing on that last play. He should've had that block like it was nothing. Very sad. I'm guessing no one will say anything to him about it either. Like dude comeon man. There's two seconds left and the ball just went over your head and you are at the free throw line. Go up and block the fucking shot!! Unbelieveable.

Beilein used it as a teaching moment to discuss: 1 - the intricacies of the pick & roll 2 - sportsmanship and ethics 3 - overtime offensive sets 4 - history of the shot clock Not only can't we inbound but we allow sportscenter top 10s on opponent inbounds At least we have that elite offense

20 plus 3s ??? ...then the worst option to take the last shot bombs another 3.  Get to the basket.  Just sad.

Love Walton guarding a big at the end.  Great timeout strategy.

That is one way to play yourself off the 8/9 line. Thankfully this team found a way to beat Purdue. Now just win in Lincoln or first game of B1G tourney and see what happens in the tournament. I really don't anticipate them making it out of the first weekend, but stranger things have happened when a team gets a good draw and other upsets occur.

We shouldn't even be talking about DJ at all ! Any coach knows you take the last shot in any half so you don't allow the other team to score !!!! Irvin is a dumb fuck and you use your time since you scored out of timeouts all night

Lots of fingers to point. One guy who gets zero blame is Walton. Hope he can catch on in the NBA. If I were a GM he'd be an ideal 3rd pg in my mind.

Well that sucked. But it came on the road against a desperate team fighting for its life to make the tournament. What they can't let it do is slip into Nebraska.

Right now I'd still say they're in. But if they lose to Nebraska, they're in deep shit.

It stands for Northwestern University. And no, I'm not a Northwestern fan, I'm a diehard Michigan fan. But having lived in Chicago for 34 years, I have an appreciation for what is a great school and a great sports fan base. And they don't abbreviate Northwestern with "NW". Oh, and I'll never forget when they played southern cal in the rose bowl.
