Three weeks from now...
... We'll all be waking up to the first college football Saturday of the season! I can't freaking wait...
Curious to know some of your favorite routines, traditions and/or habits on most of your Saturdays in the Fall... Other than the obvious one of attending or watching Michigan football games.
Personally, it's up early for a workout and then a big breakfast with a pot of coffee, maybe a trip to the local farmers market for some fresh ingredients for sorting I'll make to eat during the game, maybe a hearty soup or stew. Some good beer during the game, a large screen and I'm all set. I really love fall time...

Depends. At home I get any supplies the night before, watch the first few minutes of GameDay, then get any things done I need to get done beforehand, girlfriend and I might go out for breakfast. If we're in my hometown staying at my Dad's it's much more ritualistic, he always has a party in his bar for road games. Up earlier, Bloody Mary or Irish Coffee early, couple big plates of bacon and sausage for everyone to nibble at, watch the first few minutes of GameDay, then off to the store for doughnuts and all the other supplies that will be needed throughout the day. Few things I love more than the anticipation of those mornings...and of course there are Michigan game shot rituals once proceedings in the bar begin.

I do some of my best grad work while consuming a few cold ones. I find that it takes the edge off and gets the creativity flowing.

I don't pay much attention to Pro Football until the playoffs, but I am a College Football slut.
If allowed, I will watch College Football all day, from Game Day at 9:00 AM Saturday to Game Day Final at 1:00 AM Sunday.
If there is a game on, I will see at least some part of it.
August 15th, 2015 at 8:37 AM ^
haha me too.
Stay strong

Yeah, I'm usually not allowed by wife and kids.
But that does not mean that I don't still try . . .

then, several times on the phone with MGoBrother to "break it down." Usually with some discussion of what the appropriate cocktail is for gametime.

Watch everything college football related from the time it starts until the time it's over.
Gameday starts at 9am, so we start there...I get the DVR going because it's gotten too TMZ Sports, SEC heavy, and top 10 heavy for me. I miss when they use to cover the entire country in college football. Now it's the same stories SportsCenter already runs into the ground during the week.
So I usually cook my breakfast and get on MGoBlog during Gameday with the TV on in the background and just stop, pause, rewind as necessary.
At noon - it's football time. I make a viewing schedule usually every week and for the most part, I stick to it. I watch an insane amount of college football and during big weeks, I bring a second - sometimes even third TV into the mix so I can watch MOAR FOOTBALL.
I build in my nap during the 2nd quarter and halftime of the noon game or the 3:30 game depending on when Michigan is playing.
After the 3:30 game, I hit the grill - TV on facing the grill outside and bluetook connected so I can still hear the action.
Dinner during that break after 3:30 and during the pregame of the 8:00pm game. However, the SEC has started going to 6:15, 7, 7:15 with some awesome matchups...so that's always exciting.
Eat and watch the 8p and/or 9:15 late games and usually create a Late Games Thread on here. Alum96, M-Dog, and a few others are the regulars in those.
I go for a shower at halftime of those late games and then we blow up the air mattress and set it right in the living room and finish the late games in bed with the two pups. Leftovers on the stove.
Everyone's usally asleep by 10-10:30 and that's when I go for a night cap with the late LATE games. I'll watch Hawaii, Fresno St. - love watching Boise. I'll stay up until 1a watching football. It's my obsession. I'll also watch all the highlight shows if I'm still up. However, sometimes I like saving College Football Final, the Fox Sports, and BTN highlight shows for Sunday just to give me something to do that morning.
-----> and this is why I don't do the NFL nearly as much. On Sunday, I rest, recover and do all of the shit I neglected on Saturday. On Sunday, I usually cut the games on and just keep it as background noise while I get other things done. I'm starting to watch a little more NFL, but it's not even close to my Saturdays.

Love the Late Games thread.
You're doing the Lord's work there.
You have the schedule that I used to have and wish I still had. But once everybody goes to sleep at night, they can't stop me . . .

Before kids, I would wake up early and go for a slow paced 2 hour jog through sanddunes, woods, and along Lake Michigan. Maybe do some pull ups and push ups. Get back home, crack open a Monster or ice cold Coke in a glass bottle imported from Mexico that I shouldn't be having...Then watch football almost the entire day. Maybe rake leaves while listening to a game - assuming the Michigan game isn't on at the moment.
If the Michigan game is close, I might go for a 15 minute sprint-jog to a little red school house from the 1800s near where I live and back during Halftime to get me out of the house.
Now that I have kids, I usually take my kids for a walk to a playground while listening to football talk on the radio...especially Michigan pre-game radio when possible. Then on Sunday morning, sleep in and go on a long slow paced jog.

If not at a game
Wake up early..to me Each and every game is HUGE..theres only 12 of em until the dreaded off season....Get all my chores done early...I host tailgate for family and friends every saturday..head to the store stock up on everything needed..home by 10.Turn on radio broadcast from Michigan,,I Live in Atlanta( theres alot of us here)...all TVs are turned to ESPN College game day and all recording devices are set up and tested..( I have about 40yrs worth of Michigan games all sports on VCR and DVR..(need something to get me thru the summer months of No Michigan anything)
Commence drinking and tailgating, screaming and yelling at the TV...walking out of the room on a crucial play cause u just cant bear the thought of whats about to happen...Having to listen to your Sister whom u love but is a Spartan ..(we HAVE to fix that)...then either basking in the afterglow of another Michigan Victory or instituting the 12 hr to feel bad policy then get over it rule and watch the other big games of the day until about Midnight and eveyone goes back to reality until the NEXT game....

To help celebrate, I will be having an all day tailgate party at my house with about 20-25 huge MICHIGAN football fans such as myself. We will be playing Cornhole and Beersbee. Eating some fresh brauts and white bean chicken chili and whatever everyone else brings.Drinking some BELL"S BEST BROWN ALE. Most importantly, I will be like a 5 yr old boy on Christmas eve night anticipating the game later in the evening. The only thing that could make the day perfect, would be for MICHIGAN to come out and smack Utah in the mouth quick and keep their foot on them the whole game. Start this season off with great momentum.
I believe Harbuagh knows just how big this game is to this team.
To sum it all up....I will probably be an excited mess Sept 3rd and geeked to be able to watch the start of the next great era of the team I hold dear to my Heart. MICHIGAN FOOTBALL.Go Blue!!

I absolutely still love that segment, look forward to it all week (not to mention the whole endless off-season).
I don't keep a scorecard or anything, but I cherish it when the smug osu rumor monger's picks are wrong!
