Teddy Greenstein can't quit: today's column on Harbaugh
Teddy Greenstein from the Chicago Tribune just won't quit with his columns on Harbaugh. His latest piece is entitled (link), What we know about Michigan recruiting -- and what remains to be seen.
It is a paywalled article (I think) although you might be able to find it elsewhere. This is the third piece by Greenstein within the last week or two. He gives the following kudos:
- Harbaugh's a social media genius.
- Michigan will get more attention on NSD than anyone else
- Michigan will have it's highest rated class . . . ever.
Greenstein is waiting to see on the following:
- Will Michigan benefit from "Signing of the Stars?"
- Will there be future repercussions due to Harbaugh's "meritocracy?" (i.e., will future recruits and parents shy away from Michigan because Harbaugh didn't follow through on verbal commitments?)
I will say, I think that in general, Greenstein isn't a bad writer. He doesn't sink to the same level as the hacks at the Freep, and he isn't 10% as annoying and lazy as Sharp. One thing I can say for sure: the Trib has covered Harbaugh and Michigan more than any other college out there. Greenstein doesn't waste much time writing about non-entities like Illinois or Northwestern, and he doesn't have much to say about OSU or the SEC. Following on another piece linked to earlier in the day, you could say that Harbaugh has done a great job of marketing, because all coverage is good coverage.

I looked at his posts and don't see what you're implying. Other than too much talk about recruiting classes (for me) what there is negative toward Michigan consistently?

I feel like we had several top 5 classes in the late Carr years. Can someone with better memory or more time let me know how high this class needs to be ranked in order to be our "best ever" according this Greenstein clown?

Teddy's at best a middling sports reporter that relies on clickbait headlines to remain mainstream and keep his job, much like certain "radio sports reporters" in the greater Detroit area...and most on this blog know who they are. Valenti and his partner rely on sensationalism and conjecture to keep their jobs, rather than being true journalists and gathering facts then reporting that information in an objective manner. A friend of mine working in independent, investigative journalism describes it as lazylining...putting out clickbait to demonstrate "interest" in what they write, thus justifying their continued employment. It's just a numbers game, unlike reporting the facts.

I'm sorry. You lost me at "Teddy."
I just can't take any journalist seriously that goes by that name in 2016.

I don't care for this Greenstein fellow. He seems like a tool. Be gone, tosser!
