When they called blocking below the waist on a shoulder hit, they sunk to the point where merely "sucking" would be an improvement.

I don't know how these people keep their jobs. Utter incompetence.

The ref pool absolutely blows on and off the field. At least 6 total garbage calls that would have been crucial if PSU had any kind of offense.

What. The. Fuck.

I'm not complaining about most of it but at this point lets just get rid of targeting.

A 6'4" Zettel jumping into a 6"1" QBs head is not as violent as the head bangers but 10x more stupid....aaaaand reversed. That's like Kronwall jumping when he hits tiny speed demon winger. Dumb. And also a penalty.

What. The. Fuck.

I still haven't seen the holding on Henry - that was strange.  They showed one quick replay and Huard oddly said it was obvious.  Okay.

After that the most egregious to me were the PI on Lewis where the receiver actually pushed off, and the "low" block on Chessen that wasn't even low.

The only one where I felt we may have gotten a break was the non-call on Henry for driving Hackenberg to the turf - held my breath a little there.

PSU got handed a lot of cheap breaks in this game and still couldn't do anything.

...if they're consistent in calling holds like that all game on both sides. They were not. Therefore that call looks far worse that it probably is in isolation. Which is even more galling given its rarity. They call THAT but obvious OL holds are completely ignored all game long? I mean...cumong man.

they need to be held accountable. Its ridiculous. That block below the waist was retarded and the hold on willie henry was terrible.

I couldn't get the site to open earlier, so I went to BSD's thread on the 4th quarter.  Even the PSU fans realized Michigan was getting screwed by the refs:

Well, we can't blame this one on the refs

these guys are not good enough to ref high school football.

Need to replicate NHL dept of player safety to get people lined up on exactly what is targeting.  Otherwise, no one knows what the hell to do.  This one inexplcable -- called targeting on field and they reversed! Puh-lease.

I know it's professional sports and a different game altogether, but those refs have real relationships with the players on the ice. They know the way the players operate and they just call penalties when they need to be called, not just make shit up because "they owe it" to one team or the other. No agendas is the moral of the story.

Imagine the pressure the refs will be under next week if OSU beats MSU, to put an undefeated OSU vs Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game.

Two and only two explanations for the repeated missed calls:

1. They are brutally incompetent. But if that were the case blown calls should be made as often to favor us as screw us over.

2. They have an agenda. This is my theory and one that most (including Brian) seem unwilling to accept. But when call after call, game after game, ALL go against one team you have to at least consider the option that the officials are actively trying to influence the outcome.

All told, this one may have been the worst officiated U-M game I've seen all year.  It was almost laughable at times.  Wonder how far Harbaugh will push the issue with the B1G main office.

Well, what's to say?  Another week, another headshot on Rudock, another overturned targeting.  At least this time the personal foul part stood up...

He hit him in the arm and drove him past the receiver; great block. The holding on Henry was legit just rarely called; he grabbed the guys jersey with a closed hand. What I don't understand is why it (seemingly) only gets called against us. The PI on Peppers was not that bad though. Yes, the WR pushed off, but while the ball was in the air Peppers got shoulder-to-shoulder contact and threw him off stride on a catchable ball. If the ball hadn't been thrown it was have been ignored; if they had just hand-fought I don't think they would have called it (as they really didn't call it all day). Just bad timing, and they will never call the WR on that push off unless he slings the guy into the bleachers, and sometimes not even then. The targeting call was overblown as well. I didn't see him launching or driving through Rudock, and they did call roughing the passer as they should have. On the flip side, I have no idea what is targeting and what isn't - the delayed blitz sack of Rudock by an LB seemed far more brutal. The only thing that kept the guys helmet off of Rudock's chin was the ball!

Justice that we have to beat the other team and the worst refs of any conference every week.  I think it started with the State game and just continues with no end. Screw 'em.

The refs literally did everything in their power to let PSU win that game. Not to say Michigan played perfectly, but if it weren't for about 4 or 5 of those horrendous calls, this would have been a blow out.

the Michigan game, the refs in the last 30 second of the Wisconsin-NW game totally jobbed Wisconsin.  They took away the winning TD on video replay.  Watch for your self.  They missed an illegal motion call.  Then they failed to do the 10 second run off for ann injury to Stave that should have ended the game.
