RS is the logical conclusion. Protecting against injury on handoffs is a bit much; Morris is likelier to get hurt in warmups. But if they actually need a second QB to play, it'll surely be Morris.

Morris, you're so high.

I don't think Speight is our guy going forward.
Gentry has everything Harbaugh wants in his QB. He's raw, sure, but he's big, can make all the throws, and he's mobile. And he's hand picked by Harbaugh himself. I think Gentry is our man either next year, or in next two years, depending on how good O'Korn is.

Word is that O'Korn is best QB in practice. Think about it, if Morris was really neck and neck with Rudock, why wouldn't they start him? 2 years with same starter vs starting over again next year with another QB. Morris will transfer.

Morris is far behind Ruddock. Otherwise with a true comp Harb would have played Morris after the third interception. O'korn is going to be the starter next year if Gentry and or Peters doesn't catch him.

Maybe morris sticks with Michigan Bc he grew up a Michigan fan. Can't see him suiting up for another team.

I just think Morris isn't very good and is just 2nd string for looks

It's a great move. Shane plays if he they need him to play. But if they don't need him, he only gains by getting a redshirt. Two more years instead of one, better opportunity for a grad transfer if he doesn't win the job for next year, there's zero downside for him. He will play if there's a situation where Rudock is out and he gets legit time, but not wasting eligibility on garbage time. Hail Harbaugh.

Question about redshirts in general: at some point in a season, does a program have to officially declare in someway that a player is being redshirted and will definitely not be playing at any point that season? Or can a program wait until the end of the season and then say whomever didn't play was a redshirt?

Incorrect use of "whomever," and I don't know how to edit in the app.

All (non-medical) redshirts automatically take effect when a player goes the full year without playing. The program doesn't have to declare anything at any point.

Shane's not starting at UM and probably never play unless there's an injury and that might even be an if. After next season he'll graduate or transfer I'd guess
