If it's impossible to imagine a worse QB play, I don't think you've watched much college football (*cough* Nebraska *cough). Hell, I don't think you've watched much Michigan football in the last 10 years (over which period Speight is the best throwing QB we've had by a mile except for half a season of Rudock). This isn't good but good god don't tempt fate - it could be worse. So much worse.

Did I say impossible? No. I said hard. Stop making shit up.
And if your best rebuttal is to point out something Speight literally did in the first game, I have zero respect for your football opinion.
September 16th, 2017 at 4:53 PM ^
You're right, swapping "impossible" for "hard" totally changes the meaning of your otherwise brilliant piece of football analysis. Mea culpa.
September 16th, 2017 at 5:30 PM ^
Yes, "hard" has a different meaning than "impossible." Welcome to the English language. If you think Speight was anything other than awful today, you weren't watching the game.

Awww Angry Sten, you again? Cute. I figured you would have raged yourself into a nap by now. And as a matter of logic, your point is objectively incorrect. Something can be difficult to imagine and far from impossible. Come on Angry Sten, my 2nd graders can figure that one out!

Sounds good to me. Beat Purdue.
September 16th, 2017 at 3:41 PM ^
whether they are better right now may not be a question, but I truly believe that Peters or DM have a much higher ceiling than Speight...with experience, they give us a better chance at the end of the year, and most importantly, next year

from now at Purdue suddenly looks challenging.
Purdue can score. Not good on D, but if Speight (and Drevno's play calling) are like today, it won't matter.
I keep thinking of MSU 2013. Terrible offense early in the year. Excellent D carried them to some narrow wins. Eventually their offense improved, and...

September 16th, 2017 at 3:19 PM ^
For all Speight/Drevno/whomever haters: If Florida gets the JFK treatment from Tennessee this afternoon, we can turn on the offensive staff. Deal?
September 16th, 2017 at 3:22 PM ^
who cares about florida. this offense is objectively bad and should feel bad. maybe it will light a fire under their ass.

changes a 16-point win to 25-30
an issue all year
drops hurt us too
but only one mistake (fumble)
cleaning things up as kids on offense gain experience
defense was fine

Not calling for anyone's firing at this point, but if Harbaugh wants his players to continue believe that the system is meritocratic, he really needs to give some other snaps to O'Korn and/or Peters. Speight has had bad games for three straight weeks. Program culture can get toxic if there are no consequences for shit play.
September 16th, 2017 at 3:26 PM ^
Right? Evans made one mistake and was banished to the bench. Meanwhile, Speight or Crawford make a mistake every other play.

I would replace him on kick-returns, too. He doesn't seem to be much of a threat back there.
Place kicker, both coverage teams and punt return are looking really good.
Punter and kick-off return...not so much.

If the back ups are currently busting their ass in practice and continue to see the starter in front of them struggle, how long until they start coasting through practices and losing interest if they don't see snaps? Meritocracy is what we preach but are we practicing what we preach?
O'Korn and Peters must look REALLY bad in practice is the best I can come up with.

It was never almost won by 40. We can't do the 'what if' crap. What if Air Force doesn't miss a chip shot field goal? What if DPJ doesn't take a punt back 70 yards? What if that pass to Black gets picked off like it probably should have? You can go on and on both ways every single game. It is pointless.
