Rumor: Se'Von Pittman tried to commit
Wormley over Pittman? Isn't Pittman higher rated? I hope this doesnt turn him away if the staff ends up wanting to take him
Wormley is so broad that I could see him being moved inside and the staff likes him as a DT better than Pittman. Also, if we can get Washington and Stanford, that would be better than Pittman.
you're talking about two guys who are both 4 stars, one is "ranked" #11 DE the other is #13 according to scout. The coaches look at film and live games and see who is best for the defense they are trying to employ. I can't really say at this stage one is truly better than the other, I trust the coaches to prefer one kid to project better to their system.
take Wormley over Pittman. I guess they"re hoping he can be an absolute beast his senior year but i wouldnt count on that. Pittman is for sure the better player and i would be gravely dissapointed if we missed out on him if wormley doesnt work out.
I would guess it would be because they think Wormley can potentially switch to a 3-tech whereas Pittman is more a WDE or a SDE which we already have (though not at his level). They probably feel pretty confident about getting the Washington/Stanford duo.

Ok I just found the rumor... but we wouldn't push a recruit to the side like that. This would provide openings for tsio or someone else to grab him. It just doesn't make sense. He's a HUGE RECRUIT and is higher than Wormley. Wormley can also be pushed around a bit to different positions/techniques. I WANT PITTMAN and WASHINGTON!!! Wormley has his strengths as well but I don't see us pushing a HUGE recruit like that to the side.
Well I think the grades are a big issue here. I'd rather have a guy like Wormley who qualifies over a "higher rated" (but still pretty close) player who wouldn't qualify.
The coaches know what they're doing, if this did indeed happen. I still want to hear a quote from Pittman or his coaches before believing it, though.
Pittman's grades can't be all that bad if he plans on graduating in December. I do agree with you 100% if Pittman's grades are terrible, I don't want him. My belief is if they talk like a Kemba Walker then they shouldn't be in college and start back in kindergarten.
I'm sure if this rumor is true the coaches see something in Wormley that they like better than Pittman, whether it be grades, playing style, etc...That's not to say Wormley is a better player than Pittman or vice versa, but at this point the coaches can be a little more selective and choose the players that they see fitting their system best. Don't put too much into it, I think I trust the Michigan coaches who have analysed these recruits more than I trust a recruit rating system or myself.
That definitely fits the theories about how the rest of the class is going to fill up. There are definitely a number of comparable recuits along the DL and only the coaches know which particular ones they covet the most. I guess they want the two-fer of Washington and Stanford. It appears we may be full sooner than expected.
There's a lot of speculation in that rumor. I'd like to see a quote directly attributed to Pittman, his family, or his coach before buying that one.
However, at some point, this scenario will play out. There are limited spots left and a lot of offers on the table. I'm sure the coaches have been "working the phones" and have a pretty good idea who's in and who's out.
If true, M could have taken him. This will be a class of 25 or 26 - we're simply in on too many quality players

If Pittman was truly turned away by the staff, I don't think that's something he'd flaunt publicly. Still, I'm anxiously awaiting Tom's Weekly Update
If this is true, then the staff must be really confident in it's position with the others to turn down Pittman. I hope this all works out for us in the end.

The rumor I heard (man, can't wait for the season to start) is not that Pittman tried to commit but that he is seriously considering us...and has grade issues similar to Burbridge. With Burbridge being local (and a WR) we can wait it out a bit, but that Pittman could be on the outside if we get Wormley, Washington and Pipkins. It's not a matter of liking anyone more or less...that they're all well-liked, but grades are a concern.

This was started on Ohio premium, by the Ohio analyst, who stated that he was speculating, and had no actual concrete proof, and that you would never catch Pittman going on the record with it. This was his OPIONION on what MAY have happened, but had ZERO evidence that it actually did.
The original information was a far cry from what the game of telephone has produced on the internets.
While it's true that he explicitly stated that there was no proof, it wasn't just his own idle speculation. He heard it from a source he clearly considers to be unreliable, but it wasn't just something he was reading from tea leaves
I highly doubt we just stright told him we don't want you to commit without a valid reason, if true. Even if Wormley and Washington were in a position to commit, Pittman is just too good to pass up. It probably has to due with grades.
