The most genuine and down to earth frst lady of my lifetime. She sets the standard by which I measure all of the others.

There are words created to describe formidable women of grace and vision. Dame comes to mind. Barbara Bush was a hell of a dame.

She just seemed like a very thoughtful, classy individual. Humble, yet strong.
And after the news of the letter that President Bush (HW) left President Clinton,
I suspect that whatever their politics, at their core they were pretty good people looking out for the best of the nation as they saw fit. Whether it was or not is open to debate, and not good fodder for this forum.
Maybe it's because I'm older, and more crotchety. Maybe it is selective memory. But as time goes on, I remember both the first President Bush and Bill Clinton more kindly. We'll see what happens to me in another twenty years.

Yet at the same time, according to her husband and children, tough as nails. One of our best first ladies in my life time and I stretch back to Mamie. Go with God Mrs. Bush, you will be missed.
very classy 1st lady. RIP Mrs Bush
Being together for 73 years, I would bet President #41 won't be far behind.
Yeah, that's the saddest part - I've been with my girlfriend for 14 years and if I were to lose her tomorrow it'd be an irreplaceable void in my heart. Multiply that fivefold for the 73(?) years HW and Barbara were married and I can't even imagine his sense of loss.
