Always appreciated by those of us bored at work...

Hmm.. I'd think the team should know before the game who the QB was. There is a legit advantage to knowing that. Focusing on blocking schemes, which routes you may run primarily, how long to stay on blocks... I guess these adjustments can be done gametime, but I know when I played, I would visualize a lot the night before while going to sleep. Wouldn't hurt to know which guy will be utilized the most...

maybe by "everyone else" he means the fans. i too hope the team is told.

I expect the fans to find out via the scoreboard starting lineups like last year. Certainly makes it more dramatic. I still remember how everyone went crazy when Tate's picture and name were flashed up as the starting QB...

Pretty sure they're going to need to be ready for both Tate and Denard regardless of who the "starter" is.

Remember how hard it was to sleep before the day of the season opener when we played high school football?? I never played college ball, but if those guys get any sleep on the night of Aug 3rd, I would very suprised. Heck, I won't hardly sleep that night and I"m just a fan.

"I never played college ball, but if those guys get any sleep on the night of Aug 3rd, I would very suprised"
I slept well on August 3rd thank you (sarcasm), but I do know what you mean. Even playing minor league ball I couldn't sleep before the opener

I played D3 ball and usually slept quite good before games. The bigger the game, the bigger the anxiety, but all in all I remember being very relaxed Friday nights. But I definitely wanted to be alone to visualize and clear my head the night before. We didn't have the money or luxury of being in a hotel for home games, so I usually drove 2 hours one way to watch my bro play high school ball. I got in late but had time to mentally prepare after 4 hours on the road.
The week of practice usually had a lot to do with how well we slept on Friday night. We were usually very well prepared(at least we thought so) so that also lowered the anxiety.
The hard part was keeping breakfast down Sat. morning. That is when the nerves came into play.

I took it to mean that the starting QB would be named Friday night, while the other starters wouldn't be named until Saturday, as opposed to the QBs would know who was starting but no one else would until the next day.

i can't imagine woolfolk wouldn't come back.

James Rogers starting.....mark me down as nervous.

James Rogers has never had live action at CB, so isn't he pretty much a freshman except for maybe a higher level of maturity?

Thanks for the update. Happy for Moundros, but I am kinda wondering about Ezeh. Is he just falling apart, or is he going to be a great option to come in and help out? Hopefully he will have a breakout game or two and get back into the starting role to play to his hype and potential like he was able to a few years ago.
August 25th, 2010 at 4:42 PM ^
I vote we put Tate and Denard in the backfield for the first play and let Molk decide who he snaps it to.
August 25th, 2010 at 4:42 PM ^
Wow. I know -it has been said he was running was the first group, but I find this news unsettling.

T-Wolf will be back. He is an outstanding young man, I wish him the best in a speedy recovery. As for the QB decision : Though RR says he will tell them the night before the game he also said late last week that they will concentrate the reps toward the first team in the week prior to the game. So while we might guess, the team probably already knows. Whoever it is, I'm ALL IN!! GO BLUE

Sorry, please ignore.

Not worried about Moundros for some starnge reason. if he can at the worst read and react quickly that already puts him ahead of Ezeh in that department.
Knock on Ezeh was it would take him way to long to react to plays and always found himself about 2 steps behind every play. If Moundros can read and react and at the worst be at the point of attack quickly then the calvary can get there quick enough to hold a lot of runs.
Not to mention i truly believe that Moundros is probably light years more physical of a player than Ezeh ever will be.
