|01/04/2017 - 12:34pm||Thank you||
Thank you for writing this one up. I can't imagine it was the first thing on your priority list, but it was much appreciated by many. You are an able writer.
|09/27/2015 - 5:00pm||I'll be there||
Taking in my first game since Nebraska, 2013 (MSC Drunk Speech).
|05/29/2014 - 1:10pm||Curry works out at the same gym I do||
Maybe I should ask him if he's going to do it eventually. Would be fun to watch.
|04/10/2014 - 5:08pm||Well played||
|04/10/2014 - 5:03pm||Semantics can matter||
Neither you or your wife are likey to offend the other with your semantic choice in that analogy. By contrast, Hatch could be somewhat hurt by coarsley worded proclamations about his future, in the very unlikely (but again possible) event that he makes his way here.
Everyone here is intelligent enough to construct a less potentially offensive statement. I question why it is objectionable to ask that he spend an ounce of strength to do so.
|04/10/2014 - 4:48pm||Excellent!||
I'll see myself out.
|04/10/2014 - 2:32pm||"almost certainly" vs "no chance"||
"almost certainly" (as you said) vs "no chance." That's what warrants the venom. Big difference. He is unable to see or acknowledge it. Do you really think this would have blown up if he had taken the time to properly qualify his remarks as opposed to dismissing curtly a slim possibility as not possible? Probably not.
It is simply impossible for him to know what the future holds for Hatch. I don't know why some people can't admit error.
|04/10/2014 - 1:12pm||No one's saying you aren't being realistic||
No one's saying you aren't being realistic. At least I'm not. If you had said it's highly, highly, highly unlikely that Hatch ever starts, fine. In fact, I tend to agree.
But it's unreasonable for you to claim that you know with 100% certainty he won't start a single game ever over the next five years. You simply can't make that claim until the rules or Beiline make him ineligible. You said no chance. No chance is wrong.
|04/10/2014 - 12:52pm||You still can't predict the future with 100% accuracy||
You still can't predict the future with 100% accuracy. Saying zero chance implies that you can. You're discounting several highly, highly unlikely but nevertheless extant possibilities from EVER happening. At this point and until he gets medicaled, sorry, you just don't know for sure.
Also, you're not protecting anyone by taking this position. You're just being negative.
|03/31/2014 - 1:05pm||Excellent, quality piece.||
"I had been eroded in the presence of the sun, and was glad for it, but now that place was getting smaller and farther all the time.
We were an outbound comet, hoping, waiting for the next opportunity to feel the stellar wind blow."
Beautiful. Thanks to you and your staff for your stellar work over the season.
'til the nex trip around the sun, smooth sailing to all.

The first one.
|01/14/2014 - 10:58am||I don't think so||
I think it just includes Burke assists, some of which included Burks.
|01/09/2014 - 11:23pm||They were 11-11||
And then missed one to go 11-12.
|12/20/2013 - 2:23pm||Thanks for doing this||
This is awesome. I'm actually in two bowl pick-em pools, and I'm pitting basically this list against the picks I made before this came out. Me against math!

Beat Army! Oh wait, wrong forum.

he's probably kidding.
|09/08/2013 - 12:41am||If memory serves, Hoke asked Mattison the question||
And Mattison shrugged and said I don't know.
|09/08/2013 - 12:26am||Yeah, that is a problem||
Hopefully Gardner figures out he needs to just eat it sometimes. He does that a lot and it had the same result in the 2011 spring game, I think. I think MSU's defense would be the next defense that might really key on that move.
|09/08/2013 - 12:19am||Gardner is terrifying for opponents,||
Gardner is terrifying for opponents, but they are not fooled by his tendency to blindly spin away from pressure. It proved to be especially costly on his mistake in the endzone. But hopefully we've seen the last of a defensive line that can make him pay for it.
|09/08/2013 - 12:05am||This||
This is probably my favorite moment from the game, to be honest.

It was most certainly Kicking Competency.
|08/23/2013 - 5:55pm||It's not about deaths||
It's about quality of life following retirement from the NFL. compare the rates of dementia in NFL players to those rates for horseback riding, bike riding, and swimming. I suspect ex-NFL rate is much, much higher. So you may be less likely to die, but way more likely to be mentally impaired. That trade off bears exploration and discussion, no?
|08/23/2013 - 11:10am||looked like his pass protection||
looked like his pass protection left something to be desired.
|06/18/2013 - 10:05pm||Not near TV...||
|06/08/2013 - 8:42pm||thanks!||
|05/24/2013 - 4:35pm||More than that||
Hoke backed away from the chicken comment on the Dan Patrick show afterward. It would look foolish and petty to embrace the chicken theme again. Everyone just needs to move on. Beat them on the field.
|04/07/2013 - 4:34pm||Well||
Not to take anything away from the young man, but he didn't really out jump anyone for that ball, it just sort of came right to him. The kid is a suprising performer though.

|03/31/2013 - 5:48pm||What was everyone else reacting to?||
The Vog. 3?
|03/31/2013 - 4:56pm||Saw it on the CBS online feed||
Not sure if you can still get it if you replay the game, but I just left it on my browser and they cut to it after some commercials. Two things I saw:
1. Right before the trophy award ceremony, Beilein is organizing the team and switches the bill of Tim Hardaway's hat from backward to forward.
2. After everyone cut a piece of the net down, Beilein cuts the rest of the net down and climbs down the ladder, whereupon the team forces him to put the net around his neck. Beilein does this for about 2 seconds, starts looking uncomfortable in the spotlight, and gives the net to Hardaway.
This team seems like a family.
|03/21/2013 - 9:25pm||I wouldn't||
I wouldn't talk to Snoop that way Ross...
|03/17/2013 - 4:24pm||Thanks||
|03/17/2013 - 3:41pm||What time tonight does all the actual selecting happen?||
I've never really watched it the night of before...is it anything like the bowl selection show? Do they announce by region, or seed, or what?
|02/28/2013 - 3:40pm||Yeah, but||
Yeah, but some fans are that impressionable. Bandwagoners will latch on to whatever they perceive to be the prevailing opinion. So in that sense, authoring a well-thought counter-point may actually cause some people to chill the f-out. I don't think the OP was expected that everyone would agree with him/stop complaining. But I also don't think you can argue that it's completely futile, at least to people who act based what others have to say. It's probably better to have more than just negative opinions out there, yes?
|02/24/2013 - 7:38pm||Well||
There are more contributors, each one being slightly different, so maybe that explains it. But I try not to complain when everything's free of charge. If you really feel strongly about it, just write Brian.

Illinois tied with 37 seconds to go!
|12/20/2012 - 3:37pm||Small quibble||
There's a certain amount of arrogance you display when you imply that everyone thinking that DB has made some missteps with his branding campaign is a blind follower.
Not everyone who agrees with Brian falls at his feet. Sometimes people just share the same viewpoint; that doesn't mean they're sheep.
Your post seems to ignore that, on an issue by issue basis, people may agree and disagree with one another, even going so far as to form so-called consensus opinions, without invoking the bandwagon effect you seem to abhor. I like some of DB's decisions, and dislike others, for my own personal reaons. Some of those reasons are also articulated by the purveyor of this blog, but because people often share viewpions, assumptions, and processes (i.e. not for the reasons you think.). For example, I have disliked the increased presence of crappy pump-up music and unrecognizable uniforms in our most high-profile games. Personally, I think alternate uniforms should be worn in the least important games.
If you're in the minority, sometimes that just means that your opinion is less prevalent than those of the group at large. Doesn't mean everyone in the majority is playing follow the leader. It's lazy to brand the majority as sheep, because it disregards what might be a legitimate and justified weighty opinion in opposition to yours without any fairness of addressing the core of their ideas.
That having been said, your post was interesting and it's great to read everyone else's opinions on here.

|12/19/2012 - 11:16am||69-52 Michigan||
|10/23/2012 - 2:55pm||Borges no like chess||
Why you no like chess?
I mean I get not wanting to let the other team force you into throwing when you're not maybe the best at throwing. but if you defiantly stick with a run and it's a predictable TFL then you're passing on 2nd and 12 anyway, right? Why not pass when you have a chance to defeat the run blitz? Seems like the odds of executing that pass are better than 2nd/3rd and long.
I hope this is more a function of Denard's comfort or some other aspect of this game/team than Borges's stubbornness, because it's going to be tough sledding against elite teams with that kind of attitude.
