Preseason projections for each conference

Submitted by BuckeyeChuck on

We all know that media projections only mean so much(/little). But when multiple projections are combined, we get a gauge as to what is the overall perceived expectation of each team. It filters out the extremes, synthesizing the projections that overrate or underrate certain teams into an aggregate.

The link below incorporates 19 (at the time of this post) media or computer preseason rankings to create combined rankings:

http://preseason.stassen.com/consensus/2018.html

The total points in each conference ranking can be used to show us:

  1. which teams are overwhelming favorites to win its division (such as the case in both ACC divisions)
  2. how closely certain teams are projected (for example: Florida & South Carolina as SEC East runner-up)
  3. or where there is a significant gap (example: B1G East #4 to B1G East #5).

ENJOY!

Yoder is a fraud. He is not an insider and anything he says is always third hand, or a guess.

He is what you would call a dishonest person at the very least.

I know nothing about CFP or its accuracy in predicting things, and I believe Dantonio doesn't get enough credit for being a very good coach who's built a pretty strong program. That said, anointing MSU as #1 in the country strikes me as more than a little nuts.

You have to give credit to Kansas’ ineptitude. They were unanimously voted last in the Big12 by every ranking and with a sizable gap to the next worse team. No one does it better....uhhhh worse...than Kansas Football.

David Beaty took over from Weis in 2015, and led the Jayhawks to a 0-12 season. Following the 2-10 2016 season, Beaty agreed to a contract extension through 2021, with an annual salary of $1.6 million.

He followed this extension with a 2017 season in which his team won one game and lost eleven, while setting a school record for the fewest yards in a game and breaking an FBS record for the longest away-game losing streak.

So David Beaty has a record of 3-33 and gets paid $1.6 million per year. That's a well-run athletic department.

I like the idea, though I wish they weighted the various predictions based on past accuracy.

That said, most sites seem to have Michigan in the 9-11 range, which seems about right to me.
