Pot Smoke Haze Beats Tear Gas Haze Every Time

Submitted by UMgradMSUdad on

In addition to the basketball game tonight, today at "high" noon is also the annual Hash Bash. Does anybody have any good Hash Bash stories or plan to attend this year?

The title I came up with was inspired by an excerpt from a news story about enhanced police presence that made me laugh:

[Ann Arbor police Deputy Chief] Bazick said police are planning for every situation, but he does not expect the local streets to explode in a haze of tear gas, as has happened at other Michigan schools after April basketball success.

I smoke marijuana every day and I have an excellent job, car, house...

It's not a bad substance by any stretch. I would say that some people take it to extremes and will go to any length to smoke. I've seen people down on hands and knees with a flashlight looking with a knife through their carpet for crumbs of weed. I've seen people scrape whatever device they use and smoke the nasty resin left behind.

I know people that flip out when they don't have it. I know people that have robbed people for it. I even knew a guy that liquified the thc and injected it instead.

Yet for every pot user I've come across the ratio appears to be for every 4 marijuana addicts there is 1 person able to smoke and have it not change who they are or enhance who they are.

Legalization nationwide isn't far away. For those of you against it just look at the statistics of marijuana related deaths vs alcohol. It's not even close. Alcohol is much worse. Marijuana helps millions of us with various issues.

Without marijuana my insomnia is terrible. Before marijuana I slept 2-3 hrs a night if I were lucky. With it I'm able to get 5-7, enough to function. It's a miracle. No prescription drugs helped. Not even narcotics such as ambien.

I vape every day which helps with arthritis that is setting in on my hands.  I broke a wrist playing football years ago and it never healed...now it hurts like hell.  Cannibis helps relieve the pain.  Like you I am totally normal and a responsible person who is employed.

I stopped smoking it over 30 years ago, largely out of boredom with the whole thing, but I have no problem with people smoking it now either for recreation or for medicinal purposes. I just have a problem with out-of-town idiots clogging the streets of downtown Ann Arbor while I'm trying to get things done. And that's aside from the mountain of trash that's typically left behind in their wake.

Is that supposed to be a good thing that for every 4 addicts there is 1 person like yourself (not take hold of their life, be successful, etc)? That sounds like a terrible thing if there is you and then 4 addicts out there who aren't like you and maybe the addiction effects them or people close to them. If the numbers were the other way around I think that would make a point that it isn't a big deal (in terms of other drugs, alcohol, etc). Maybe I am reading this post wrong...

...in 1984, at the height of the "young republican" movement on campus, my evil doppelganger and about 8 others stormed the Diag. They all roped themselves together, as a sign of solidarity. Stoney Burke preached. Shakey Jake shook. They proceeded to get stoneyed and then trip over each other due to shakiness and aforementioned "solidarity rope."

A good time was had by all.

on State St. to snag a couple of Final 4 T-shirts.  Then, we ran into a huge wall of traffic and cars clogging up the campus area.  Suddenly we remembered that it was Hash Bash day (despite living here for the last 22 years, we usually forget about it) and got the hell away from the campus.  We also found out the Pow Wow was scheduled today and tomorrow.  I don't know why they scheduled both events on the same day.  Dumb.
