Reposting from the Clinkscale thread below:

Very surprising answer Ronnie Bell gave when asked  "Which defensive back is giving you the most problems?"  LINK

Spoiler: George Johnson. If I tried to recite the names of as many of the DBs on Michigan's roster as possible, I wouldn't have come up with George Johnson. Intriguing. And terrifying.

This roster is loaded with talent on the field and coaching staff.  I know we all suffer from PTSD of years gone by, but other than the CB position and possibly a D-Lineman or LB, this is as good a team as we've had since Jim has been here.

You could make an argument offensively that we are equally or more talented in areas than we have been in the past but any such argument regarding the defense is flatly delusional. The 2016 team for example had peppers, Charlton, Wormley, jourdan lewis, Delano hill, gedeon, Ryan Glasgow, and Jeremy Clark all get drafted!! That doesn’t even include Rashan Gary, winowich, Devin bush, and mo hurst who all emerged moreso the next year but were in the rotation!!! Hutchinson and maybe Dax hill are the only people on current roster who make that two deep defensively.

That offense had Darboh and Chesson who I think are severely underrated for their reliability relative to what we've had since, plus arguably the first or second best TE in program history in Jake Butt. Braden, Cole, Kalis, Magnuson, and Braden were all either drafted or signed as an UFA. For some reason we could not put together a dominant run game though.

Bo Harbaugh

D-Line is the second most important position group on the team after QB.

That's a huge hole. It's what separates  Bama, OSU, Clemson and LSU from the rest or the pack every year.

Those teams are always 6-8 deep with NFL level D-linemen.  When they have good to great QB play, they become national title contenders.

Our best team under Harbaugh was 2017 with the elite D-line.  We were a healthy QB away from the playoff.

"We're going to definitely continue to grow and get better and work on the little things so we can grow and get better.."

What about player X?

"Oh yeah, he continues to grow and get better. I see it everyday.  He works on the little things so he can continue to grow and get better.
