Pep Hamilton and his time spent as OC of the Indianapolis Colts

With all of the talk regarding issues with Pep Hamilton, I thought it would be prudent to look back at his time as offensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts. Below is a link to an article summarizing a few of the main issues that plagued Pep Hamilton's time in Indianapolis,  which resulted in his firing during the middle of the 2015 season. While I can't comment to the validity of all the points raised in this article, I found this part to be a bit alarming:

"One person in the organization told ESPN.com had that had been asking Hamilton to play with tempo for more than two weeks but that their suggestions weren't being received."

It goes a bit more into depth into the issue, but it does seem that tempo has never been an area Pep has valued or implemented under previous offenses.

This seems to support the claims that changes need to be made to this offensive staff in order to bring somebody on board who can provide the necessary expertise to incorporate uptempo elements along with a quick strike passing attack.

The offense will change only IF Harbaugh wants it to change.

Comfortable complacency be damned, it does not matter if Harbaugh wants it to change or not.  Ohio State demands that it changes.

Even the legendary Jim Harbaugh is not going to survive 0-6, 0-7 against Ohio State.

Harbaugh is the OC even if that is not his title. Until he actually gives this up it doesn't matter who is in Pep's position. We have to hope that Harbaugh wants to move to a more pass oriented attack next year just like we have to hope that Don Brown will add more zone packages.

I don't know if Pep is the problem, but after the last 2 years, it's pretty clear he isn't the solution. If the offensive staff doesn't have a major shakeup in the next few weeks, I don't have much faith that our dynamic duo will suddenly figure it out.

Not a huge fan of Pep or the offense in general at this point but I feel like I’ve been saying this for years regardless of who the OC is whether it was Borgess or the guy Saban foisted on us to replace Borgess.  I remember watching Alabama vs LSU this year.  I think Alabama always had 3-4 wide receivers playing to space generally for the entire game.  Get all of your speed talent on the field and run a scheme to exploit the defense.  Quick routes, quick passes, mixed with some up tempo.  I don’t mind using a fullback from time to time or even sets with multiple tight ends but it can’t be your whole game.  I’m sure the French soldiers were emotionally ready to defend against the Germans in WW2 but if you don’t have a good plan in place, you can’t compete with the blitzkreig.  Elvolve or continue to play second, third and sometimes fourth fiddle in the big ten east every year.

Bring in the guy for 1.45 mil for how many years? Crazy...

Why would he leave on his own making that - with no accountability. The dude has it made.

Don Brown doing the same also I suppose?

Didn't Harbaugh make a pledge at his introductory speech when taking the job??

Well expect next year to be like this year then. Beat the easy teams - lose to the good teams...& hearing the Ohio chant in the big house - yet again.

I think the podcast enlightened me that we are *dead last* in tempo.  It worked this year against inferior talent and coaching but it must seem like a gift to competent teams.  Install a tempo package please.
