OT - Roy Roundtree signed by Bengals

Submitted by rpel84 on

I didn't see this posted on here.  I'm excited for Roy.  After coaching against him in High School then watching him play for us and being fiends with his cousins. I was excited to see him come home to the Bengals.  Congrats Roy you will be great.  Bengals are defiantly in need of a few quality receivers.  Wish we could have gotten Denard too !

It was posted in the UFA thread after the draft.  Good for Roy though, MOAR M football players in the League makes for better recruiting.

NFL: "Bengals, you don't need more receivers, we won't give you any."
Bengals: "Yes we do! We're not listening to you! We'll defy you and pick up a receiver!"
Sorry, that's one of my favorite typos.

I am a middle school teacher and football coach and Roys cousin is actually a nurse at a hospital in the Dayton area and him and I play basketball together.  He is the kind of guy that when we had our two sons at his hospital he came in regularly to check on us.  I take a lot of offense to what you said about a good person and his family.

What exactally are you trying to say.

Roundtree is one of those guys that I can see being a backup wideout or a guy who gets signed late in the season when injuries start to mount.  I think he might be able to make a go of it for a few years.

Bengals have some good ones but depth is an issue.  AJ Green, Andrew Hawkins, along with Mohammad Sanu & Marvin Jones.  Plus, Tyler Eifert will more times than not split out at WR.  If Roy can make an impression though, he could enter the mix!

1 - ND Under the Lights gamewinner

2 - one handed falling down catch in last seconds vs NW to set up win. least season would feel so much worse at 7-6 than 8-5.

3 - 2010 vs illinois game, (246 receiving yards, all time single game record)

also in the running, the 2009 illinois game getting caught, and goofing off in the stands of bball games with denard.

good luck, roy.

If you're using an older version of Internet Explorer, this occurs, at least from what I can recall - the issue came up in a separate thread ages ago. I believe it has to do with how older version of IE dealt with background transparency on PNG, GIF and other files. It doesn't happen in any other browser that I am aware of, and it doesn't happen in IE8, which is what I have to use at work.

As for Roundtree, it is nice to see him get a shot at an NFL roster - there's always a team that needs depth at WR, so I hope to see Roy out there on Sunday one of these days. Always nice to see our guys at the next level too.

Glad to see our guys getting opportunities to make an NFL team.  Hopefully some of these guys who signed UFA contacts can stick on and make their respective teams.

Glad to see him get a chance. He might not look like a prototypical WR but he could certainly offer something to an NFL team looking for depth.

Great to see that he's getting a shot. I think his stock got hurt considerably with Denard's erratic passing, but he started coming on strong with Devin under center.

Show them what you can do, Roy.
