I was naive of what our military folks went through when I was young, and thought freedom was just normal. I was wrong and am glad we can enjoy things other countries can't. I dare you to travel out of tourist areas in most countries. Thanks to all of those that served!

You're welcome.  It is an honor to serve, however I am happy that I get to spend this holiday with my family.

For all those having a drink with family and friends, make sure to give a toast for those that have given the last full measure for our freedom.

Have a great day.

Thank you to my grandfather, my great uncles that served in World War II who fought for our freedom.

Thank you to our friend of the family who is an active US Marine fighting for our freedom.

And thank you to any former or current member of the military serving our country that might be reading this post.

Ordinary men doing extraordinary deeds.

Thanks for the shoutout ManChild. But special thanks to all those that have gone before, for without them, we would be far less.

A huge thank you to all the veterans that served before, with and after me. Its days like this I wish I was still serving and doing my part but after missing my fair share of holidays I am happy to be spending this one with my family.

But please remember the true meaning of Memorial day. It is a day that we remember all that have fallen on the field of battle for our beloved country. So to the families and friends of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice we say thank you. God Bless and Semper FI.

As an active duty officer in the Army and an alumnus of the UofM ROTC battalion, I thank you all for thanking us vets who served and are serving. We have many alumni who either did ROTC at UofM or joined after graduating serving as officers in Afghanistan right now or served in Iraq. Many are my old drinking friends, where we once would spend hours at the Jug or the Blue Lep, or go womanizing in Windsor before we were 21. Now, they are thousands of miles away, facing dangers that many of you will never even think of facing. Alone at times, and away from loved ones, it is very hard on you emotionally, not just physically to deploy. As this day comes to an end, I only ask that anyone who reads this try to take the mindset that everyday should be a Memorial Day. Not just one day out of 365. Go Blue and God be with our Troops.
