To the Bucks.

Think they break the Bulls' record of 72-10? Anyone else see 9 more losses?

I love attending the games because I love seeing individual brilliance on display. The fact it's just like a well organized pickup game is awesome. You're just a few steps away from being able to share the same court with the best in the world(Yes, I know you can't really do that cuz rulez). The way some guys can just take over games is quite the spectacle. A lot of people say the league is watered down but I completely disagree. Every single year in the NBA since I've been alive you knew the three or four teams that had a chance to win the championship and very rarely has it not been one of those teams. The 90's was by far the worst era of basketball since I've been around yet people get some false idea that it was great just because that was Jordan's prime. The best eras were the 80's and the early 2000's.

Steph Curry is one of the most likeable, exciting players there has been at any sport at any level and shame on the frivolous naysayers about him, the GSW, or the NBA.

I don't care for IPAs but I don't shit on them during "what are you drinking?" threads.

Have some tact.

I don't think they will break the record for a few reasons.

That Bulls team started off 23-2. GS is now 24-1 so they are still one game ahead of the pace. However, the Bulls won 14 of their next 15 to push their record to 37-3, which remains the NBA's all time best start. To remain ahead of the pace, GS will have to go 13-2 in their next 15, It's possible but they've got 6 road games in that stretch as well as a home date with Cleveland.

I also don't want to get into a Michael Jordan vs. every great player that has followed him debate, but Jordan was the ultimate competitor. During that season, he willed the Bulls to wins late in the season, games that normal players would have mailed in when things weren't going their way. Curry is a fanastic player, but will he have that same relentless drive in games 60, 65, 70?

Lastly, Phil Jackson believed the Bulls were able to set the record because of being centrally located in Chicago. East Coast road games were short trips. West Coast trips were manageable. Golden State will have to deal with a lot more of the problems that are associated with travel than the Bulls did.

One thing to keep in mind is the 2005-2006 Detroit Pistons. They started off 22-3 (two games behind this GS team) before starting to push for that Bulls record start. They got up to 35-5 (just 2 games behind the Bulls) before cooling off. They finished 64-18. GS is better than that Pistond team, but like the Pistons, GS is primarily a jump shooting team.

I double checked a few of my numbers, which are slightly off. The Bulls actually got off to a 41-3 start. So for GS to remain ahead of the pace, they would have to win 18 of their next 19, which includes 9 road games and two games against Cleveland.

Interesting fact, the best start through 55 games is 49-6. Two teams share the record. The first is obvious, the 1995-96 Bulls. The second team? The 1996-97 Bulls.

Thing is they make a ton of open jumpers which always results in a made shot. You have two of the best shooter in the league in Curry and Thompson. They also made a ton of layups and dunks due to the ball movement and spacing. They have done it for a few years. It's there to stay

Another factor that benefitted the '95-'96 Bulls was the NBA's recent expansion. The Raptors and Grizzlies were in their first year in the league that season, and four other teams (Charlotte, Miami, Orlando and Minnesota) had joined a few years earlier. The league's overall talent pool was a bit diluted as a result. Since then, only one team has been added while the US population has grown by around 50 million and many more international players have entered the league. The talent pool now is stronger than it's been in a long time. If they had to play against today's NBA, I think the '96 Bulls might have gone more like 70-12.

Of course the Warriors can beat 72-10. Warriors just won 6 of 7 on their 7 game Rosas stretch. Two of the Warriors best players have been out at times. Let's also not forget that this entire 24-1 start has happened without their head coach. If the Warriors can match the Bulls 37-3 I think they break the record by one game.

I hope the Warriors do break the record just bc it's always one record everyone says can not be broken.

I'm gonna guess every person - or the vast majority of people - posting "I hate the NBA" are from Michigan. I have a feeling it's analogous to the same situation that happens every Sunday where loads of Southeastern Michiganders inform all of us they hate the NFL. And it will no doubt happen in a few years (again), when the World Cup is played and they all chin in to let us know they hate soccer.
