This coincides perfectly with the Tigers losing their 4th game since the break 2-1. 4!!!!!!
Luckily, Buerle won't be available for the Sox the next 4 games...

Don't know all the pitching matchups, but UofM Grad Clayton Richards was scheduled for Sunday. And since he's a Michigan grad, and this is a Michigan blog, all true Michigan fans will be rooting for him to win vs the Tigers. Rrrriiiighhhtttt . . . . .

Danks likely won't be seen in this series, as he is scheduled for Monday, but may not pitch because of blister problems.
The matchups for the DH certainly favor the Tigers, and as a Sox fan, a split would be glorious.
Buehrle's game was one of the most amazing baseball games I have ever watched. The quest for the perfect game is nerve-wracking enough, add in the Wise Grand Theft catch, I think I almost had a heart attack. Buehrle is just an inexplicable baseball player. He should'nt be this good, and is a class act all the way. No one deserves it more. Hopefully he can keep this season going and maybe nab himself a Cy Young.

i'll be watching highlights of the 2003 mich/osu game until i can get visions of strikeouts and fly balls out of my head.
It was also a fantastic full count changeup to get the second out via strikeout. I was highly impressed by the catcher, for one, putting down the changeup sign quickly and without hesitation on a 3-2 pitch, and impressed with Buehrle for not squeezing the hell out of the changeup and bouncing it given the situation. Great job all the way around.
A note to Tigers hitters: It takes more than one run to win a baseball game, please take note of this fact.

I stupidly benched Jarrod Washburn today on my fantasy out of the pure wish in my heart that the Tigers would pound the crap out of him today...oops, missed 7 shutout innings in the midst of a close race for first.

A good friend of mine was at the game in Reinsdorf's suite. Highly jealous. Will be an awesome story for his soon-to-be-born kid.
Perfect games are incredible but that kind of makes a statement about the opposing team. How can 9 major leaguers get three outs each without reaching base once? I realize that it takes overpowering stuff to throw one, but I mean, luck and variance should be able to produce a hit and maybe some patience could produce at least one walk.
Luck worked in favor of the pitcher today. That is possible too isn't it?
Obviously, Buehrle doesn't have overpowering stuff. His fastball maxes out around 90. But looking at his innings pitched (200 or more the last 10 seasons,) his continual winning record year after year, his never going on the disabled list, I think that Buehrle makes his own luck. Yes, there was luck today, as there is with any perfect game, or no hitter. But he is the kind of pitcher to make the luck, and be there to capitalize.
Most days they probably would have scored a run in the ninth with a homerun, but it got robbed. Most days when Wise dropped the robbed homer he probably wouldn't have re-caught it in his bare hand.
Also, hitting a major league pitch is incredible. In under 0.2 seconds, you need to see the pitch, decide if it is a fastball, changeup, slider, etc., then decide whether or not that ball is going to be a strike. After deciding these things, you need to swing a two pound hunk of wood and make solid contact and hope that you hit the ball in a place where one of the nine defenders on the field are not. I think hitting a 95 mph pitch is one of the hardest things to do in sports making hitting unbelievable. Granted, Mark Buehrle does not possess a 95 mph fastball, but he is a great pitcher, and in baseball, great pitching always beats great pitching. It also makes no statement about the Rays as they have scored the 3rd most runs in the MLB, it just makes a statement about how great of a game Mark Buerhle threw.
With that said: Go Tigers, please score some more runs tomorrow.
Obviously luck and variance are involved. How could it not be involved. Generally perfect games are thrown against less than stellar teams, but yesterday, Buehrle threw a perfect game against the #3 ranked offensive team, in terms of runs scored, in the offense dominated AL.The highest ranked team in that respect to ever have been the victim of a Perfect Game. Yes, luck and variance have a lot to do with it. Two close foul balls, Wise's catch, but other than those three instances, extraordinary efforts by the fielders were not necessary. Yesterday, Buehrle was just on form to the extreme and hit his spots, and pitched a perfect game in every sense of the word.
I want to add something else here. I root for the Tigers, I think Ozzie Guillen is annoying as hell, and I despise Kenny Williams for throwing The Big Hurt under the bus for no reason. But let me make this abundantly clear: Mark Buehrle is fucking awesome. Go Mark Buehrle.
While the White Sox organization isn't what i would classify as classy, Mark Buehrle is one of the classiest, most humble people in baseball, and an all around good guy.
I'm upset that I missed it. I've never seen a perfect game before.
I must add that Ken Harrelson is probably the worst fucking announcer in the country. I'm okay with an announcer who's not afraid to be a homer, but Harrelson is downright obnoxious and annoying. "He gone" is probably the single most irritating expression I've ever heard uttered by a commentator. And there was an article saying that he summed everything up with his "YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!" at the end of the game, but he ruins the moment.
I agree 100%, I can't stand him.
