OSU under lights again (cars for all, not just TP)

ESPN article investigating memoribilia-laden dealerships and their "deals" to players and their families....  I'm beginning to think some of the local media/fans are just wanting to just "get it all out there now" and take their lumps in one fell swoop...  so they can move on.

Even if you assume that no one in compliance, the coaching staff, or the general administration knew anything about these purchases (unlikely given what's happened so far), it still casts the compliance department in a suspicious light.  To not require a player to submit documentation for every auto purchase by the player or a player's relative (that occur in Columbus or the vicinity), is negligence IMO.  The entire point of compliance is to stop potential problems, and a simple rule requiring documentation from every auto puchase (like the contract, title, registration) would have prevented any of these problems.  It's just another piece of evidence suggesting willful blindness by all layers of the university.  That's pretty much exactly what USC was punished for, except Carroll didn't knowingly lie to the NCAA on top of that.  I think we'll see at best a USC-style punishment, because you have to tack on Tressel's lies to the punishment.  If something comes up suggesting that anyone in the university knew about these transactions, then we're edging toward the death penalty.

So, let's assume Sweatervest is gone for a minute...

Wouldn't it be wise to pile as much onto him now as quickly as possible instead of dragging it out for months or years?  Take the pain and move on rather than death by 1,000 papercuts.  Just empty the drawers full of stuff that wasn't known.

I checked out their page of apologism on the matter (they have the same hatred for the Dispatch as we do for the Freep)...it's beatiful, beautiful...

We're f**cked. I always saw these athletes driving around in these nice chromed out cars and thought it was so obvious. Prepare your anus.

This is an Ohio St. investigation, not an NCAA. We are not f***ed until they say we are.

My point still stands.

Oh and as far as Pryor's mom and brother buying cars from this dealership, they are under the same rules as TP. So it makes sense that they would go to a dealership where the university recommends so the paperwork will be much easier to track down.

Already suspended and now his family is mentioned as part of the car dealership fiasco.

Why risk further violations for tOSU by letting him play? Move on with this program. We aren't winning a NC, let Miller or Guiton take over this team.

Sadly you're right. I think Tressel has to go as well.

Long story short, we got caught with our hand in the cookie jar. No matter how many other schools do it, we got caught and have to pay the price.

I think this season is going to end with a bowl ban, so I would rather get it all done now. Anyone mentioned in this car fiasco, doesn't play. Tressel is fired and we throw ourselves in front of the NCAA to take our medicine.

Next season, tOSU is the preeminent job avilable and we have our choice of coaches (Meyer, whoever) and we turn the page from all this ugliness. The longer we let it linger, the more damaging it is to the school and football program.

I appreciate everything Tressel has done for this program, but when you break the rules, you should be held accounatable, especially when you are in charge of young men.

Lets just stick to not clicking freep links or subscribing to the freep so they hopefully go out of business. One way is bribery, the other is boycotting. Can we tell which one is legal and moral?

I just went to the dealership  and asked to test drive a Ford Gremlin for 3 days and that I had to take it out state so my Mom could check it out. They asked me if I was on drugs, crazy or both that's all the investigation I need!

Thad Gibson, Beanie and Mo Wells, Posey, Ray Small, Kurt Coleman, Boom Herron, etc

Its probably just a coincidence that all of these guys are starters/star players

At some point during the last 10 years shouldn't the NCAA have done something?

The news stories about team tutors taking exams and writing papers for the FB team...

The academic progress violations...

The trading team swag for cash and goods...

Cheaty McSweatervest covering up violations...

Free cars part one...

Now free cars for everyone (part two)...

At some freaking point even the NCAA should get their lips off OSU's butt and do something. Anything at this point.

does anyone have a good idea when the NCAA will make their ruling? I've heard all sorts of time lines. If the bucknut fanbase wants to purge everything tainted right now, should I want him to stay as long as possible prior to the sanctions/firing/resignation? Is it really possible that Osu keeps him until the end of this season? Is Gee so stupid as not to get him out the door now and please the ncaa and queue up a new coach? Sorry, I'm a little confused and disoriented from my elation over the mess down there.
