Nebraska and KSU are similar in the sense that their fans travel well but they bring almost nothing in TV terms. Nebraska makes up for that by having some brand power that KSU lacks, but that game isn't going to get many people outside of those two (tiny) states watching. Plus this was a conference matchup for about 100 years and I can't imagine either school was hot to see it renewed this soon.

If Texas falls to the BWW, they take Nebraska.

All the poll picks are back room hand shake deals...which team brings most money and fills seats. Each bowl is out to undercut the other bowls to make PROFIT!! Just because a bowl is in Florida doesn't make it a premium bowl....it's all done with those stupid bowl tie ins!! I'd rather play a acc or big 12 team in a lesser bowl than get ass blasted by a mediocre sec team that thinks it deserves to be in nc! We are not at that level yet to compete with the 3rd/5th ranked sec team. Let's build this program until we can compete and destroy those teams!! I like the bowl game we r in screw the nay sayers and hand wringers!! This is Michigan and we will prevail!! Better for recruits to see us win a bowl than get embarrassed by a team we cannot beat.... Damn you non believers and backwards thinking fans....

This sucks but it is a chance to go out with some momentum. Next year we will be dramatically improved with more experience for the young guys. We will be in they playoffs.

We have to rebuild the only parts of our offensive line that didn't suck, our offensive coaching staff still has no clue, and there is no indication our defense is giong to become dominant overnight.  Sure, as Auburn proved any team can come back way better and make it into the top.  But if you value your money, I wouldn't bet it on us.

1.  I think we have a shot at winning the game.

2.  I am on a ski vacation that week and did not feel like burning a ski day to watch the Gator Bowl -- which I attended the last time we were there (yikes)!  The BWW Bowl is not so late if you are in Colorado!

3.  For the seniors, don't you think Tempe will be a lot more fun and nicer weather than Jacksonville???

What is important at this point is the extra month of practice and a chance to right the wrongs before we get to next year.  Next year cannot resemble anything like this year or changes will be made.  Especially noteworthy is a new president coming in who has no loyalty to Brandon or Hoke.  Could be hot seats for both if they don't perform on the field.

IF (a) Ohio State had crushed Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game, so that only one Big Ten team were playing in a BCS Bowl; and (b) Penn State were bowl eligible; and (c) the refs at Northwestern’s rain-soaked Ryan Field hadn’t been so quick in moving the ball to where it could be snapped as time was expiring or (d) Drew Dileo had just “slid past the bag and been out at third” before he could grab the snap from Jareth Glanda so he could place it down for Brendan Gibbons to kick a game-tying field goal; and (e) The Game had been as lopsided a win for Ohio State as most people had expected, then a 6-6 Michigan team on a five-game losing streak might’ve been looking at a spot in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on ESPNU at 11:00 AM Dallas time on New Year’s Day or the Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl on ESPN at 6:00 PM on December 26 in Detroit.

And the Big Ten’s bowl lineup might’ve looked like this:

National Championship - Ohio State
Capital One - Michigan State
Outback - Wisconsin
Buffalo Wild Wings - Nebraska
Gator - Penn State
Texas - Iowa
Heart of Dallas - Michigan
Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl - Northwestern

So, it might not be “luxury,” but Michigan Team 134 should be grateful for getting to play in a bowl game in the middle of a rolled-up newspaper inside a septic tank in the middle of the road underneath a van down by the river.

That's why I prefaced my post with "IF."  I know that Penn State would not have been eligible for a bowl game this year, despite their 7-5 record.

When the NCAA announced that it would ease up on the football scholarship restrictions at Penn State, so that the full 85-scholarship allocation would be restored by 2016-2017, I believe that there also was some discussion about the NCAA's considering rescinding the bowl ban for the Nittany Lions, depending on the amount of progress made with Penn State's adoption of the recommendations made in the Freeh Report.

This is the SUPER BOWL for Michigan.  A chance to play in The West.  The Champions of the West!  WIN

Make it happen and WIN.  No excuses.  No looking down on BWW (they are actually a kick ass bowl provider; probably next best in execution to the Rose Bowl group actually with more press and commercials and specials in all of the restaurants nationwide), no 1 point loss, no "do what the Senior's wanted," no lame running attack, no missing Clowney on a block and other crap.  Let's beat the shit out of this team!

Put it ALL together and show off.  Be the Team 134 we and YOU expect.

For me this needs to be a win.  A 14 point win.  This is T Lewan's swan song.  J Gallon.  Guys: let's suck it up, put jock straps on, chin straps and focus on winning.  Let's play hungry.

There is NO looking past this game.  Let's prepare like it is the end of the world and get ANGRY already.

JUST WIN BABY!

GO BLUE.  CHAMPIONS OF THE WEST! (I know the old Western Conference, don't write anything to me about that).

I am choosing to look at the bright side of this.  A late Saturday tilt is prime time on the West Coast, and prime bar time on the East Coast.  Michigan has never won this bowl before, and has never played Kansas State.  I am putting aside all my anti-BWW sentiments, and hoping for one helluva Copper Bowl.
