Congratulations, Nate.

Wasn't the whole defensive staff non-coaching?
I kid. I kid.

This comment is "Blimp Worthy".

Congrats to Nate. Well deserved.
On another note, Kerry Coombs is looking at coming back to the college game. Michigan should contact him immediately. He would be a better recruiter and secondary coach than Partridge. Coombs would immediately be the best recruiter in Detroit and Ohio on the staff. He would also probably be a better recruiter than anyone OSU has and he is a great position coach. 750,000 and a Co-DC position would bring him in.

Thanks I'll let Harbaugh know
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
If he leaves the Titans it's going to be to head back to OSU.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Coombs is going back to OSU. They are just waiting until the Titans finish their season before naming him.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:42 PM ^
Al Washington and Greg Mattison were at Michigan just last year. Coombs has no special loyalty to OSU. Offer him more money than OSU and a Co-DC spot. Coombs is a dang good recruiter and coach.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
Except that he’s a lifelong Ohio native until his tenure in Tennessee. He may just want to be back closer to home.

So was Bo
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:23 PM ^
but but but...
I thought we weren't trying to be good... I thought we were trying to be "Average at Best" not "Leaders and Best"... the Harbaugh apologists tell me that we need to lower our expectations. Why are we so eager to hire such good and expensive coaching talent if we want to be 'average'?
January 2nd, 2020 at 7:56 PM ^
Keep crying.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:03 PM ^
That you think you can get Coombs makes you the most delusional person in the most delusional fan base in college football. As Urban famously said, “we (including Coombs) don’t want to coach average.”
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:08 PM ^
Clemson waxed that ass though, bitch boy. HAHA! You some average Mfers.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:17 PM ^
A t[tm]OSU fan posting on a Michigan board in a topic about an analyst taking a DC job at a P5 school.
Calls M fans delusional while you wilfully ignore weed, tats, free cars, money, fake f'n jobs and the University of Phoenix (Columbus Campus) academics. But yeah, M fans delusional.
Keep lecturing though, clown.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:33 PM ^
Keep feeding the troll... great job!
Also, if you can't beat them, join them... otherwise we need to accept "average at best" and move on.
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
Srsly.
Which part you in on bruh? Weed? Tats? Fake Jobs? Free Cars? The "Alabama Method"?
Michigan actually does offer online coursework but it's grad school (of course)
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:37 PM ^
Had no idea he was on the UM staff.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:44 PM ^
Don't know much about him, but that seems like a pretty good promotion. Congrats. Being a part of the staff for an academy has got to be an amazing experience.
Another defensive coach getting promoted. It's almost like being associated with Don Brown is having a positive effect on these guys resumes. Weird.
January 2nd, 2020 at 1:55 PM ^
Too bad it doesn't have a positive effect on our defense.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
Yeah, it really sucks having a top 10ish defense again this year. Just awful.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:20 PM ^
It also sucks giving up 35 points to Wiscy, 28 to PSU, 100 to OSU and 35 to Bama...the best teams on the schedule.
This top 10ish D narrative to defend Brown is exhausting. His D beats up on the bad teams and gets mauled by most teams with a pulse.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:39 PM ^
You do understand that Auburn's defense gave up 45 points and more yards vs Bama than did Michigan's. We all know the defense was bad against OSU and Wisky. Giving up 28 to PSU on the road wasn't that bad considering the nature of those scores. Michigan's defense also shut down ND and MSU among others. It definitely wasn't Brown's best D but given the pieces, I think he did a decent job.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:46 PM ^
Ehhh, with the way today's offense is played, 28 at Penn St isn't bad and the 35 vs Bama was their lowest output of the season. Wisconsin's 35 is different because they got there in one half and one drive and then let off the gas. OSU playing against our defense like they are going against air in practice is the by far the worst.
But Don Brown is still a top D coordinator. He is just too boom or bust for my taste.
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:10 PM ^
You do remember the defences prior to Brown?
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:49 PM ^
Every team pads their stats against lesser opponents. Every team gives up more points to their tougher opponents. In the end all of those performances are averaged together to reflect an overall performance. It's not a narrative, it's just statistics. We played a lot of good offenses and still ended up with a top 10 defense statistically. There are teams higher in those rankings that didn't play anywhere near the schedule we went against - like san diego state, I believe. So, to say we have the 10th best defense statistically is pretty damn good no matter how you slice it. I'm not happy with the performances against the elites either, but to point to those as an argument to fire one of the most respected DCs in the country is absurd.
January 2nd, 2020 at 7:53 PM ^
In each of those games, the offense also came up short. The O needs to execute better from start to finish and in the final 4 minutes of each half.
January 2nd, 2020 at 3:26 PM ^
Hey now... stop it... we're achieving our goal of "Average at best"....
It's workin' for me and the Harbaugh apologists!
January 2nd, 2020 at 4:47 PM ^
In Woody's case, it had little to nothing to do with Brown. Monken knows Woody from his time as HC at Georgia Southern vs Woody's App St defense.
Plus Woody was PJ's DC at GT for one year and Monken is from the PJ coaching tree. Woody was rumored to be headed to Army last year, but Army promoted a guy who was already on staff (John Loose). With Woody's hiring, Army moved Loose to AHC.
January 2nd, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
"Woody was PJ's DC at GT for one year"
Who's "PJ"? What's "GT"?
January 2nd, 2020 at 7:25 PM ^
Georgia Tech, where Woody was employed before he joined Harbaugh's staff - and who was still paying Woody in 2019.
Paul Johnson, Woody's boss at GT - and Monken's boss at Georgia Southern, Navy, and GT - future inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Congrats to him on promotion. Is it like Bush sr takes over for partridge opening?
