We have advanced to the Final Four out of the South Regional (including its two former names) in 5 of 11 appearances: 45%
West is 20%
Midwest 13%
None yet out of the East
I'm glad they've done away with that nonsense of the round of 64 being the "second round." That was ridiculous.
It definitely was very imformative. Whether or not the information is interesting or all that important is up to you, but you also didn't have to read it.
This is good stuff. (Saved me some research.) Thanks Wolverine Devotee.

That LMU team dropped 100+ on just about everyone they played. Yeah, 149 was above their average but that was a team that wouldn't even have worried about a 10 second shot clock.
if it wasn't for UNLV. That team was amazing. And UNLV beating Duke by about 30 in the Championship game was...so nice.
had a great team going into the tourney. But for some reason, when most said be careful of Loyola's hyper speed pace, they thought they could run with Loyola who ran and ran and ran the whole season. They ran us right out of the gym even though we scored over 100. It was quite a humbling experience.
For some reason Steve Fisher decided it was a good idea to try to run with the fastest-paced team in the country.
You can watch the game here. Also LMU's Jeff Fryer had eleven 3's and 41 points.

I always liked something about the South.
It's NASCAR. You like NASCAR.
system in the first two rounds. Our first and second round "south" regional games in 2013 were in...Auburn Hill, MI.
I don't care that much which regional we're in, I just want to be in Detroit again for the first two rounds. Get to the sweet 16 and then anything can happen.
The regional names have been considerably fluid. East / Midwest / Southeast / West seemed to last for years, but it's been really inconsistent recently. I'm pretty sure I remember there being both a South and a Southeast one year (Dallas and Atlanta regions, I think). And I'm certain that they named the regions after the cities for one or two years, because I attended the Austin Regional one year. However, thosse were during the dark ages of Michigan basketball, so it wouldn't have shown up here.
Given the NCAA's rules on travel -- not to mention the fact that Michigan's class is in session throughout the entire tournament -- avoiding the west coast would be a big win. Going to Detroit / Nashville / Pittsburgh and then Boston / Atlanta / Omaha would be a lot less taxing on the team than San Diego / Boise and then Los Angeles.
Having said that, if they are the last 3 seed or the first 4 seed on the S-Curve, expect LA (West Regional). There are no likely 1-seeds out west, so the weakest 1 seed likely gets sent out there.
GO BLUE!!
That loss to the Cornbread Maxwell is still painful.
That damn Duke game in 2011... Swore Darius was gonna make that shot coming down the lane! That one still haunts me.
That shot would have only tied the game. Should have kicked it out for a 3 and the potential win.
I do remember someone being open on the wing. We did have some momentum going late in that game; which is why I would have taken OT. It was just that, we hadn't experienced a lot of success for so long (at that point), It was pretty damn exciting. Ended up being enough to convince Darius to jet; which sucked. Oh well... completely different level of excitement than we got now, so let's go blue!
It was Stu Douglass, in the right corner, wide open and calling for it, rotating to the right wing, when Morris 2 pt went begging from the elbow...Duke grabbed the rebound with roughly 2 secs left and ran it out, plenty of time for a kickout to Stu and/or another pass to Novak if Morris shot was released with 3-4 secs left...
I was so thirsty for a Michigan Sweet 16 and another week of hope after such a long drought, ugh
Fun to think back on some of these games.
Also, 1976 win over Missouri was in the Elite Eight, not the Sweet Sixteen.
