Michael Barrett, Winningest Michigan Football Player and World-Class Orator

Submitted by Indy Pete - Go Blue on January 13th, 2024 at 8:21 PM

We all know about the legend of Michael Barrett’s man-handling of a grizzly bear, his cure for cancer, his staring contest victory over Chuck Norris, and his one man mission to Jupiter.  But, man - you give that guy a mike, and that’s when the real magic happens:

“Hey man, they tried to rat us out.  Man, they tried to count us out. Too bad they can’t count, man - cmon.  Hey, lemme get a Go Blue!”

“All we did was sit there and grind. We didn’t have to do all the talking. We are not in the taking business. We are in the a$$-kicking business. AND BUSINESS IS BOOMING!”

I love Mike Barrett, and I love this TEAM!

Fabulous player.  Fabulous speaker.  Will always remember with fond memories his quote "We are in the ass kicking business and business is booming."  One of the best and funniest post football game ever.

Michael Is a great leader and true Wolverine, I hope he  drafted by an NFL team.

If not 〽️ needs to bring him back as a graduate assistant coach.

Those who stay 6 years, might win 3 Big Ten Championships, play in 4 playoff games, send Nick Saban out with a loss, send Kalen DeBoer to Alabama, and win a National Championship. Not too shabby. One of my all time favorites. Thank you Michael Barrett.

Turns out Mike Barrett’s mom was right when she yelled from the stands at the end of the Georgia game: “put Mike Barrett in the game; put Mike Barrett in the game”. At least that’s the story Doug Karsch tells

I forgot to mention; Beat The Ohio State University 3 times in a row

What's far more interesting to me than it should be are the backstories on these recruitments.  After reading the Herbstreit thing, I'd love to know how Barrett was discovered and who thought he'd be a good defender, or who discovered Loveland and pushed for it, etc.   That is a book someone needs to write in the future... The backstories of all the key recruited players on team 144.
