His replacement, Tress, gets described as Herbert’s “right hand man”, followed him from Arkansas to Michigan in 2018, has been working with him for even longer. I’m okay with it because I can’t imagine the guy who insists players neatly line up their cleats was particularly laissez-faire regarding who his staff was.
And (in the replies) that’s exactly what Angelique said - she wasn’t mad he didn’t answer or anything, thought it was a totally fair response. It’s still her job to ask.
Why not Clinkscale (who's already co-DC) for DC? He's had 3 years teaching a very Ravens style system, including for the DBs, and has had some excellent passing Ds in the past as well.
The BPONE can no longer hurt me. If Harbaugh leaves? Fine, national championship. If we go 3-9 next year? Fine, national championship. Lose to OSU... okay, not fine, but still - national championship.
All that grumpiness when Michigan loses? It's gone. National championship. Maybe it'll come back some day, but we did it, we can do it again, so what happens in the interim is fine whatever may come.
First week of law school in DC, walk into Civil Procedure. Look around, there's an open aisle seat, I like aisle seats, I ask the guy next to it "Hey, anyone sitting here?" "No man, sit down."
So I sit, and we start talking. What did you do before law school, what kind of law are you interested in, where'd you go to undergrad - "Oh, I went to Michigan." "No kidding? I grew up in Ann Arbor." "Wait, seriously? Me too."
So that's how I met one of my best friends. Who promptly upon discovering that I was as obsessive about Michigan football as he was (so, about 5 minutes later) introduced me to MGoBlog.
I logged in just to reply to this, because D'alessandro's is by far the best cheesesteak in Philly (well, the metro area, I forget if it's in the city proper or not) and I'm excited there are other fans of the place.
Watched some more video and there seems to be a mix from Roh - some good, some bad, and a lot of forgettable. Probably net zero on the day, +/- 1, I think.
A lot of the particularly ugly runs we gave up seemed to come on RPS mismatches - several times I recall catching Martin dropping into a short zone on runs up the center.
But from skimming the highlights (will be skimming the game itself at some point), it looked like Roh was playing a lot of contain - and while I'm not a football coach, it seemed like he was mostly (there was one play where it looked like he bit on a QB fake and jumped upfield instead of coming backside on the RB, but he was backside on the play so he may not have had chase responsibility?) making good decisions. Maybe not tackles (though there was one where he forced the ball carrier into the tackler, and another where if Martin hadn't done a nice job ripping through a block he'd have had the tackle himself) but I don't think he'll grade out badly.
I did notice he was out of the game on a lot of the 3rd and short situations where we got good penetration and stopped rushers in the backfield - read into that what you will.
