I'd say that's about as official of an unofficial announcement as we're gonna get, untill they officially announce what we all unofficially already knew.

Virgina and New Jersey just declared states of emergency in anticipation of the oncoming storm. I'm not sure if they taught geography at whatever school (I assume you attended one) you went to, but if you're uncertain where Maryland is relative to those two states, go look at a map.  It's not our fault if you live under a rock.

State of emergency is an executive order that basically makes money available to fund preparations for the storm, including evacuations if they become necessary. In itself, it doesn't mean all that much.

DC is far enough inland that it would have to be pretty much a direct hit for them to start to evacuate. It doesn't seem likely, but that could still change:

It just doesn't happen. Sorry to be pedantic about this, but just for national security reasons, it's never even been discussed. They evacuate folks on the Eastern Shore, and some of the counties in what is called Southern Maryland, because they are essentially all coastal and prone to flooding. DC just isn't in that situation (Georgetown and Old Town Alexandria flood, but that's it.)

What the heck, dude. The guy made a comment about DC (which they're not evacuating but whatever) and you started telling him to look at a map? You do know College Park is like 10 miles from DC, correct? Maybe you should be the one to check a map.

Declaring a state of emergency in advance of a potential hurricane next week does not have anything to do with a football game played at noon on Saturday. How many times do people on these boards have to tell you that the hurricane will not be in the vicinity of Maryland on Saturday?

yesterday, but I was on the road. They are NOT going to evacuate College Park. If you look at Washington DC on your map, it is way up the Potomac River away from the coastline.

The states of emergencies you linked, are not recommending an evacuation at all yet, much less Washington DC (or Northern Virginia as a proxy).

I live in North Carolina, and have lived in Northern Virginia. If they evacuate anywhere, it will likely be along the coast. If this game was at Old Dominion University or UNC Wilmington - that is one thing. Those areas might get an evacuation notice. DC - maybe along the Potomac riverfront. Not College Park.

Your posts are ridiculous.

If you look at the map, you'll notice that D.C. isn't in NJ or Virginia. Furthermore, if you look in a dictionary, you'll notice an evacuation is not the same as declaring a state of emergency. Google it and you'll see that D.C. isn't evacuating. Flip back a couple pages in the dictionary and you'll see the username "Dawkins" next to a picture of a profusely bleeding asshole.

I'm going to have to watch the replay on BTN2GO. Anybody happen to know how soon they post the replays? I know they're almost always up by the next day, but I don't know if I'd be able to tune in around 5:00 on Saturday to see it.
