M vs. Wisconsin, TV, stuck in the south....

Submitted by maizenbluedevil on

So I was just on ESPN.com looking up some info on Saturday's game, and it's set to air on ABC regional and ESPN360.com.  Son of a bitch.  ABC regional does not bode well for me, being in North Carolina.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to catch the game live online?

I think all Michigan games that are on ABC here in Michigan will be boradcast on espn2 elsewhere.  I think that goes for all big ten games actually.

The 3:30 ABC Big Ten is broadcast on the "reverse mirror" on either espn or espn2 in the other areas of the country. You should have it on....if not, buy the gameplan program, although I think because of the new reverse mirror broadcasting agreement, there would be no need to buy the Gameplan to watch big 10 games.

I'd check your local listings Saturday morning.

I wouldn't trust any of that shit. I had USC/UVA on both ABC and ESPN 2, which was druing the Utah game, even though it said UM/Utah would be on one or the other. (I was in Dallas, actually live in New Orleans). Had to venture out to a sports bar to actually watch it.

I don't think that's supposed to happen even in non-conference games involving the Big Ten, but it might be OK under the contract (obviously I don't have the contract in front of me).  HOWEVER, if that happens for a Big Ten conference game, there is zero doubt that ABC/ESPN will be in breach of contract.  The UM/Wisco game will be on ABC or one of the ESPNs throughout the country, and if not, you should immediately call and complain and notify the Big Ten office as well before you head out to a bar to catch the game.

I've never been to any of the bars for a game, but I do get an e-mail every week from MTAC (Michigan Triangle Alumni Club) and they are meeting at Rudino's Sports Deck in Cary.  Members of the Alumni Association are automatically members of MTAC.

Their web site is  http://mtac.umclubs.com

I know that there are several other bars that fans of various teams gather, and has been posted in the newspaper (the N&O, I believe) before the season.  You may be able to find that info on their websites.

FYI:  Big Ten channel (#323) is now here on Time Warner, but not yet up.  You have to get the sports and games package, $3.50 a month.

By your name, I assume you are associated with Duke?

If there are more than two regional games, the Big Ten game should still be available throughout the country (although not necessarily in HD). Anywhere ABC isn't showing the Big Ten game, it's supposed to be on either ESPN or ESPN2. As far as I know, only the Big Ten has this deal with ABC/ESPN, so the other schools may be out of luck.

See, for example, last week's coverage maps: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?page=coveragemaps2008. Three games - ND @ MSU, Miami (FL) @ Texas A&M, and VT @ UNC - were shown on ABC. For the reverse mirror on ESPN, Miami and Texas A&M were the odd men out. In the future, I don't think there's any reason that ESPN can't split the broadcast between the other two games in areas where ABC is showing the Big Ten game.

I live in Maryland and have DirectTV. The MSU-ND game was not on the regular ESPN channel (206) like it was supposed to be. Instead, it was on and ESPN alternate channel - 210. The regular station 206 said the game was blacked out in my area. It took me well into the 2nd half before I stumbled onto it. I figured the Michigan/Wisconsin game might be shown on the alternate station as well, but it was on regular ESPN - 206, not 210.

Yes!  It's on ESPN after all.  Jubilate Deo!

 GO BLUE!!!

This is cause for great rejoicing...  so far all of the games have been on TV here...  with basic cable, no less...  hope this trend continues for the rest of the season.
