but 95% of recruiting analysis is speculation and educated guess. Tremendous & Friends (tm) have repeatedly denied the "expert" and "reporter" labels and they are very good at forewarning of speculation and opinion pieces. These are people who are doing what they love and for free.

Also, the media has been doing what they are doing for nearly 100 years. Many newspapers have a history of running stories based on anonymous tipsters that turn out to be fake or nothing. For every "Watergate" there have been a dozen "Dewey defeats Truman."

Most of the guys who are bothering recruits are doing nothing other than regurgitating what others have found. There are more than a few who are repackaging the regurgitated tidbits in a way so as to make it look like it is their work. I'm pretty happy that the folks I associate with MGoBlog aren't part of that, because I suspect it is a real mess viewed from the other side of the phone.

just now. I suspect some of what we see is the result of the recruits telling people anything just to make them go away.

If he is going to Vandy, why announce in July?  Vandy has 15 commits.

FSU has 16 commits and USC is expected to be full with 18.

Leon and his father are both on record as saying they want to take their time and do some visits.

This from Saturday:

"Michigan wanted me to commit, and I wasn't ready," McQuay said. "They said that if I didn't commit by this weekend, they weren't sure they'd have a spot for me by the time I was ready," he added.

With so many recruits committing early, I asked McQuay if he feels pressured to commit.

"Not really. I know I can play and the teams and recruiters that really want me will hold a spot for me," McQuay said.

A visit to Vanderbilt happened earlier this spring, and McQuay is not sure if he'll make it back up to Nashville before he decides in late November.

I also think the McQuay's said that they wanted to take an official visit to Ann Arbor in the winter time.  They basically said that they only knew Florida weather and wanted to see first hand what winter in Ann Arbor would be like.

If we were still to follow that time line we would have to keep a spot open for him for quite some time.

I have to say, the way this went down (per McQuay), I wonder if Hoke and Co. will rethink this entire "holding a spot" for people concept.  I imagine it will depend on what will happen with Treadwell... but if he goes elsewhere, ugh.

I had visions of Mcquay announcing his verbal to UM, then giving way to Bailey announcing his decision to attend Michigan after scoring approximately 76 TD's against Ohio's secondary at Gridiron Kings.

needs to tell Green/Treadwell and McQuay to

Stop Screwing Around !!!

QUIT SCREWIN AROUND already and just commit.  Enough of the dickin around, let's just pull the trigger and win back to back NC's already....

That the kid wanted to come but was not enjoying being pushed or rushed. Seems like LT is playing games etc and this kid just was down to 3 schools. Reminds me of how Dorian o Daniel was told to look elsewhere, we would of had him and possibly Fuller. Hope this is not a trend as Mcquay was and is a special player

I just don't understand all the handwringing if we can't fill this class with each and every big time recruit that has us on his "list".

If I had the choice between similarly talented players, and that's what the kids are that will fill the last 'x' number of spots, I'd prefer kids that go into their Michigan experience with Michigan as their clear cut leader.

That's not saying that recruits shouldn't deliberate, or that Michigan must be a kid's instant favorite; but it's hard enough getting through four years at a school, without having the temptation of that "close second" option in your mind at the first sign of adversity.

Transfers can hurt a program worse than losing out on a specific recruit that you don't have room for by the time he's made up his mind.
