WOW.
This seems like an odd thread to announce that you're a fan of World of Warcraft.
That can't be true. He was an OSU lock....
Turns out, Meyer actually didn't want him.

Man this meme is still hilarious a year later! And how bout that MSU inter-galactic recruitin'?
. . . . . .
. . . . .
Good for him. I hope, for Butch Jones' sake that he eventually signs on the dotted line (is that line really dotted on the LOI).
Butch Jones has always seemed to be a decent guy. I hope he steals many more 5 stars that were heavy leans to OSU.
No, the line is not really dotted.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, Ghost. I feel better knowing things.
Here in Knoxville fans are really excited about Butch Jones. The coaches called every high school coach in the state of Tennessee to try to lock down all of the in-state kids. With time he should be successful. He has done well everywhere he has been.

Wasn't he somewhat instrumental in the violations at UNC during his tenure?

Wasn't that Butch Davis?

Whoops! Fail.
So is not going to federal prison. Boom!
I'm sure he's very happy to not be going to ohio as well.

Good luck with that.
I didn't follow his recruitment too closely because I knew he wasn't going to pick U of M, but he always seemed like he would be going to Tennessee. This is the first I've seen that he was widely considered to be an OSU lock.
OSU was the favorite. You are twisting the OP's words. It's a good thing he didn't choose OSU. Quit being a dick.

Can we just bring out the banhammer on this asshole? I'm so sick of him.
and this comes up on the first page. Apparently, he wasn't as near as they thought. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/recruiting/2013/02/jalen-hurd-highl…
OSU people thought he was a heavy lean. Universally.
So sparty knew it, too?
That's a little harsh.
If you need a car hotwired or someone to get Nancy Kerriganed, I bet they would know how to do those things.

broken dog legs, provided they're not severe.

Well, he's a big-time prospect with a Michigan offer...so it's somewhat relevant.
Welcome to MGoBlog.
Maybe Tenn fans will stop crying about Green now.
They haven't stopped crying about Woodson's Heisman, so I wouldn't hold your breath....
March 14th, 2013 at 10:18 AM ^
Very true, didn't think about that.
But if you would hold his breath, how would you go about doing that?

Should this really be that big a surprise? A talented kid from TN ends up going to UT? UT is a traditional power that just found itself without even a plausible 'coach' for the past several years. If Jones rights the ship, there's no reason why this shouldn't happen more in the future. Not to mention he can offer immediate playing time, like, everywhere. That said, let's see if it sticks.

While it's not necessarily a huge surprise for an instate kid to choose UT, this is a 5-star kid choosing the in state school that hasn't been a semi-consistent power since he was in kindergarten. The only thing Hurd has seen is UT being bad or mediocre. Big time kudos to Jones for nabbing him.

According to Rivals, Tennessee has only recruited three linemen in the 2012-2013 classes combined.
