Class act such as Jake Long is a class act on its own merits. I always appreciate a class act such as yourself showing respect for other class acts. Now if God would be a class act and bless us not only with some great offensive tackles but a win vs Wisconsin and OSU combined with losses by MSU and PSU and his own wii 300 perfect game that would be the ultimate in class acts.

Go back and watch his games. He was blowing guys off the ball and Hart wouldn't get touched until he had gained three or four yards at least. He was automatic. First down machine.

You see this over and over with Michigan guys - from Harbaugh and Les Miles on down to Jake Long and Denard - and how they are so attached to the school for life.

Some of the posters on 11 Warriors were complaining about the mercenary attitude a lot of those 5-stars have that come through Ohio State on a drive-thru on their way to the Pros.  They don't have that same lifelong attachment to the school.

The Michigan difference.

Was walking down South U one eve with a friend of mine in '05. We saw Jake, he's a bit hard to miss, with someone neither of us recognized walking the same direction ahead of us. Another player or just a friend, I can't say. Jake was obviously telling a story, and we just decided to pass by them without being all wierd fans. So, we're passing them and just then Jake swings his arms out as part of his story telling and the back of his left hand hits me square in the chest.

No joke, I flew through the air. And, to quote Agent J, "it hurt." Super nice guy, he clearly felt bad about it, although it was totally not his fault.

True. I'm sure no defensive end was ever told, "Gee, I'm terribly sorry I pancaked you."

My nephew met Jake at a mutual friend's bachelor party. He said he was a terrifically nice guy, real friendly, and wouldn't let anybody else pick up the check.

Cool story bro...

In a previous life, I trained the retrivers I hunted over with a couple of pro trainers.  Jake bought a puppy from them (a yellow lab) and wanted to know what it was like to hunt over a well trained dog.  So we set up a quick pheasnt hunt by putting some birds out in a field, then got the dogs out.  Jake missed the shots, but had a big time with the dogs.  Don't think I said but 3 words to him, but my GAWD he was huge!!!  Had a lot of fun, and he was very gracious and courteous with everyone.

Looking at Jake Long's Twitter, he seems to be good friends with OSU star Jamie Lauranitis, but I'll overlook that in light of his stellar career in a winged helmet. (/s, people)

Also, if any of you are foodies *and* NFL fans, his wife Jackie has a show "Jack of All Tastes" where she meets up with pro athletes to find where their favorite dining spots are.  (It's sadly not on Netflix otherwise, you'd have a natural cross-promotion with Aziz Ansari's "Master of None" show.)

Never caught sight of that statue with the "Character" inscription on campus. Is that a detail of the Union that I somehow missed, or the Graduate Library, maybe?
