Hypothetical 2022-2023 Basketball roster

It’s early to speculate so if this topic bothers you, you do not need to comment. I think we can assume Dickinson will move on, and the real question will be whether Houstan and Diabate return. I believe both would benefit from another year. The good news is that we have seen exciting potential from Frankie at the PG spot. If both Houstan and Diabate returned, we might see a lineup like this:

PG: Collins-So/McDaniel-Fr

SG: Bufkin-So

SF: Jett-Fr/Barnes-RS

PF: Houstan-So/Williams-Jr/Glenn-Fr

C: Diabete-So/Reed-Fr/Tschetter-So

Young, but talented. I would be excited about the possibility of playing Houstan at the 4 and Diabate at the 5. But as you can see, we would need to fill a spot or 2 in the backcourt with a transfer or another recruit. If one or both of the freshmen go pro, obviously that changes things and we might expect Juwan to be more aggressive in the portal. I hope this team can continue surprising and pushing deeper into the tournament, but when it ends it will be an interesting off season.

Whoops. It was. Walk of shame on my part. The one yesterday assumed both freshmen would leave. Which I disagree with. And I spelled Diabate wrong.  🤦‍♂️

If I could edit the OP I would change the topic to be about local politics or something.

He does. I think the chances of him returning would be very small though and I’m not sure we want to delay Frankie another year. Reason I put this together was to show we certainly will need another big guard next year, regardless of who declares. Would be nice to have Zeb back, but that obviously wasn’t meant to be.

Hunter is not on any draft boards so if we assume that his sweet spot opportunity is in the G-League, then we have an NIL opportunity to keep him around.  This might be the first big test to determine if our NIL program is legit or not.

Jones could theoretically come back if he wanted and so could John's and Nunez.  Personally hope they all leave as I think we can fill their spots with better players.    We need a good experienced guard and an elite wing defender and a big IMO.   Hopefully we get YT when he decommits from LSU.

ESPN just did an updated prospect list after first two rounds of the tournament and Michigan and zero guys going in the first two rounds for what it is worth.

I'm certain Isaiah Barnes got a few minutes early in the season. Since BB still counts a year of eligibility for any player who appears in any non-exhibition game, unless there is an exception granted he will be a true sophomore next year.

Seems like a mistake given what his fifth-year potential could be vs. a small contribution early this season.

I see Jace factoring in more than Glenn would  as a freshman. We need another shooting guard no matter what happens and will need a center and a shooting guard if Diabate goes pro as well. The problem I see right now is that the portal doesn’t have a lot of high end talent in it and the 23 class is mostly signed.

We BADLY need a veteran guard and preferably one who can play the point a bit.

While Frankie has shown great improvement the last month or so, we cannot rely on him and Dug alone at the PG spot.

And the SG spot just has Bufkin who has been raw but should take a nice step forward next year.

A grad transfer combo guard who can play major minutes would be ideal.

There is a kid named Jaelin Llewellyn who plays for Princeton who is a 6’2 185 combo guard. He’s highly sought after right now. Would be a good pickup and he would obviously transfer credits wise.  Shoots around 39%. He’s improved every single year. Top 100 player coming out of a Ontario high school in 2018.
