This Friday at Yost: The Return of UM/MSU

Submitted by a2bluefan on
I'll be the first to admit that I remain primarily focused on the outcome of our football season. But hockey season is also underway, and I must say I'm a little surprised that I've not seen much discussion about this Friday's meeting between UM and MSU at Yost. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first meeting between these two teams since last January, when all the Conboy/Tropp/Kampfer stuff took place. I always get excited about going to Yost, but doubly so this time as it oughta be pretty intense... perhaps the college version of 1990's Wings/Avalanche. I'm by no means a hockey expert, but I love the game, love going to Yost, and love the Wolverines! Hence this post. Love to hear what thoughts you guys have about this game.

he would not let Tropp hit the ice for this game. I was at the game and what he did to Kampfer was inexcusable and for him to play less than a year later at Yost would be disrespectful. I don't care if Tropp is the team's leading scorer, he should be banned from Yost for life. If he does play, I cannot imagine the insults and curses that will come spewing from the student section. I would give much for a ticket to this game. FYS!

switch up his top 2 lines or put Tropp on the 2nd. Leaving him in for the introductions will just stir up emotions before the puck is even dropped. If that happened it may benefit us too since it'll postpone Llewellyn doing something dumb earlier than normal. Hopefully Red will have them in a disciplined state of mind after the MIA fiasco. They need to play smart as FYS seems to be much improved.

Michigan better win Friday at home against a rival especially after the total debacle last weekend. Nothing less than a win at home on Friday should be accepted. Oh yeah, I hope someone knocks tropp the hell out of our stadium.

a friend of mine who sits in my group is friends with tristan who told him he plans on getting ejected in the first period. not sure how much of that is tough talk but given his record of "i don't give a shit about getting stupid penalties" i'd believe it. I would usually expect to see an extra chippy game against FYS but because of the ass ripping the Red has probably given the team about loosing their cool against Miami they might try to keep it under control some. maybe.

but if he does, at least he can't turn the puck over right in front of our net this game while he's ejected (i kid). the daily today interviewed kampfer aaaand...rust and they said last year's events won't have any impact on their prep but i find that really hard to believe. i expect it to be really chippy and i expect the students to have their filters completely off. imagine when tropp gets intro'd pre-game. i expect the student section to start a big FYS chant right there. many men in chicken suits will be ejected on friday

Look, I do not want any Michigan player going all tropp on tropp. I want it legal, but I want his ass wrecked, and I want to see him getting knocked on his ass hard all game. I DO NOT want Michigan gooning it up and doing something stupid that will get him kicked out. If its a one on one fight, fine...but nothing like a check from behind, just something to get the point across that shit like last year will not go without revenge.

1) Llewellyn better not go run after tropp and get ejected. That dumb ass takes way too many penalties and we need to do a red berenson approved beatdown, that is a 6-1 or 7-1 victory, not a 2-1 victory with blood on the ice 2) If the game is not on Dish Network someplace or the internet, I will be using all my engineering prowess to hijack a commercial comsat to direct the signal to my house. And BTW-- don't be too surprised if Friday's MgoBlog is entirely devoted to an FYS recap and weekend setup. I also expect WLA to get the People's Liberation Army fully mobilized and propaganda spread across the airwaves. "There's a special place in hockey hell for those two bastards. I hope Bertuzzi and Claude Lemieux have a seat open next to them."

The greatest thing to occur in Michigan athletics in the past year was the hoops team making the NCAA Tournament. The second greatest thing was the 5 straight beatdowns the hockey team hung on the Spartans last season. That was delicious. As for Tropp being back on their team, Comley is just following SOP set out by Dantonio and the rest of the compromisers at MSU. Besides, as we all know, "Everybody kills people, murders people....". Hell, Tropp didn't even come close to killing Kampfer so what's the big deal?
