To Foul or Not to Foul
Since I've NEVER seen this kind of over-analysis on MGoBlog I thought I'd ask and the run for cover.
What other dead horses can we beat into the ground?
was in the double bonus and you are up by 2. No
(Eliot) Gould Kentucky (Bourbon)
Waste of good thread space???? Seriously, I'm not a fan of it either, but come on... What else is going to be posted on a Sunday in the offseason
If your up by 3 you foul so that they can't hit a 3 to tie it, but instead can only hit 2 and so you will still be up. So there are definitely circumstances you foul when you are winning, this just doesn't happen to be one of them...
they should not have fouled.
However, the game did give some good evidence that Michigan could have benefited by fouling Kentucky more often down low. Those bigs almost cost Kentucky the game at the line.
When Wisconsin had the ball tied with 50 seconds left, I thought to myself why not get a quick shot attempt in the first 10-12 seconds, ensuring yourself one more possesion while possibly taking the lead? It made no sense to me that they whittled the clock down, scored and then gave UK a shot to tie or to lead. I would rather be in control of my own destiny.
But in answer to your question, yes I think they should have fouled. Forcing Kentucky to make two foul shots and still giving yourself a chance to win the game at the end and the very worst OT. But hindsight is always 20/20.
yeah you hijacked, but at least you kept in line with the dead horse beating.
that he wasn't going to call TO to draw up any play for the last shot; just tell them to give the ball to harrison for the last shot.
hey cal, you could still draw up a play to get harrison an EASIER shot. ever think of that. cheatin bastard just got lucky his last two games. period.
It's pretty obvious, isn't it, that the safest play is to simply deny a three-pointer and force K to shoot a two? A can't-lose approach.
Except you can lose. In overtime.
Odds of UK making that three <<<<<< Odds of UK making two free throws (except if you foul the 45% FT guy).
No. You never foul in that situation.
