Five Commits on HS Butkus Award Watch List
Five (!) 2012 commits have been selected to the 51 player watch list for the 2011 high school Butkus Award. This is great for not only these athletes, but also their current teammates, and for UM Football. Past winners include Manti Te'o, Jordan Hicks, and Tony Steward. Congratulations to these guys and good luck with the award. I also noticed that Penn State and tosu each only have one player on the list. Hoke and Mattison may be on their way to settling the Linebacker U debate.
It looks like there were 50 guys nominated, so its not too surprising that all 5 of these guys are considered top 50 backers given there recruiting rankings - but still good to see!
Doesn't Mario play on the defensive line at his high school? I cannot remember seeing him in the linebacker position in any highlight videos. Is he planning to make a change this season?
but he's a DE/OLB tweener. He'd be a 3/4 OLB. I think this bodes well for Ojemudia and Ringer getting 4 stars.
