EDIT: *Poker pro* Phil Hellmuth headed to Signing of the Stars

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Per his Twitter: "Finished 3 days of filming @PokerNightTV at @TVPokerRoom: won $13,700 total. Next stop is Ann Arbor, Mich to support my boy Jim Harbaugh"

Edited to clarify that Hellmuth is a poker pro since, admittedly, he's a pretty random celebrity.

As weird as it sounds, in the early stages of my sports obsession as a kid I only watched shows on ESPN, ESPN2, etc.. so some nights I ended up watching my fair share of WSOP. For no direct reason, I always despised Phil Hellmuth.

Now if Phil Ivey was attending.....

If each celebrity is introducing a commit--when the lights go down for the finale and the fireworks are keyed....drum roll....A top hat wearing Gary Coleman should show up in a circus car and get out with 10 midget clowns throwing confetti to welcome Rashan Gary!!!! Rashan will look as gigantic as the Statue of Liberty in that crowd as prideful tears roll and everyone on stage links arms and kicks in sync to "HAIL TO THE VICTORS!" ...and down deep won't we all feel really good about showing some Flair AND giving the clowns a day off from running the federal government??? Go Blue! WOO WOO!

Yeah he has a rep for whining at the table but all I've read is he's the nicest guy ever outside of poker . I Was at the 2010 main event and he was a joy to watch

Phil Helmuth is going to a remote location with a bunch of rich people who will need some way to pass the time before and after the event. He is going to work.

Cannot stand Helmuth!!!  Biggest whiny brat in the history of poker.  And why would you want a professional gambler anywhere near your college football program?

Love Jeter and Brady, think Flair is silly, but this is just plain dumb.

I'm not up on who many of these people are that are attending signing event.  My question is why are some of these folks chosen?  This poker guy for instance...is he a Michigan alumni or do alot of the kids watch poker today?  Just trying to make sense of the VIP list.

This is the most random collection of people I could ever imagine at a UofM event. I completely understand former M player and those tied to the NFL machinery but Ric Flair.....Phil Hellmuth.......wtf?

If we're inviting someone from the poker world, then I'd be 100% in support of Norman Chad.  But he has to commentate the event.  That I would watch.
